A question for the upper-classman. Can you wear goggles during the swim test?

Yes, but not for water survival.

You can try and validate swimming or water survival before your lesson begins.

Is that a course that you should try to validate? And if you validate it, do you just have to take a different one?

Well, considering both classes combined equal 16 lessons (for regular swimming/water survival), I would highly recommend you validate it. If you validate it, you won't have to take a different PE class. You'll just have more free time.

How would you go about validating this?

What is the distance/time to validate the class?

I don't remember but there are multiple tests that you have to do. Off the top of my head, you have to be able to swim 250 meters in a certain time, I think at or under 4 minutes, underwater swim for 25 meters, master the efficiency strokes (breast, side, and elementary back), jump off the 5 meter diving board and swim under the bulkheads in a certain time, and be able to tread and drown proof.

What of that is in uniform? And I would assume ABU's?

None of it, swimming is entirely in a swimsuit. Water survival is another class that is entirely in ABUs. Also, I think the time for an A for swimming is under 4:25 for the 250.
