How far away can your cadet go during that weekend? What are their restrictions?

I can't really remember specifics but it seems like last summer they could go as far as 75 miles (I think---help me 2014 parents!) and could eat in a restaurant on the way from and going back to West Point. They had to return to the barracks on Saturday night (and Sunday, of course). They could not go to a mall, store, movies, Putt-Putt, etc. They had to be in uniform while in view of the public. My cadet slept in the hotel while I did his school supply shopping at Walmart.

My cadet's company took forever to release their plebes and we ended up waiting until at least 2:00 for him to appear after the A-Day ceremonies. It seems like you could pick them up as early as 5:00 or 5:30 (can't remember which) on Sunday morning, which I did do. We took him back fairly early Sunday afternoon because he wanted to make sure he had everything ready for the first day of classes the next day.

Don't count on this being the exact information the Class of 2015 will have---2014's privileges were different from 2013's and I'm sure 2013's were different from 2012's! Lots of stuff changes from year to year at West Point!

Thanks, lotrjedi13! I'm glad my memory wasn't as bad as I thought! So cadets whose parents did not visit just had walking privileges into Highland Falls?

Oh they may have gone off with a fellow cadet and his/her family.

Many cadets were "adopted" on A day! It was great to see!!

What if my house is within a 75 mile radius?

just curious but how many cadets could you "adopt" for the day and was there any special permission to get for that?

How big is your car? haha...but really...

Yes.....how big is your car???:shake: I'm sure cadets have to let someone (TAC Officer maybe?) know where and with whom they are going off with before they can go. Just for accountability purposes, if nothing else.

i saw lots of cadets introducing other cadets to friends and family and going off for the day......:groupwave:

My DS has buddies always tagging along everywhere we go...so I just reserved a two bedroom suite knowing that some new cadets will probably need to get some time away...

As a grad I can say that Cadets will love you for that.
