I am a junior and it is my dream to go to the Air Force Academy. I have a 3.95 GPA unweighted and I'm in IB. My class rank is 30 out of 617. I got a 2040 on the SAT. I got 760 math, 610 Verbal, and 670 Writing. I've played high school soccer for 3 years(will be 4 next year) and club soccer for 6 years. I also did track for two years and was the jv captain. I have over 200 hours of community service for a small nonprofit cancer relief organization and was on a committee at my school in Japan to help build a school in Cambodia. I'm also in NHS.

Thanks

Based on your description there your chances seem like they would be pretty good. Do well your senior year. Make sure your course rigor is up there too, don't just take classes you can slide by in. Keep up the soccer playing (contact the coach and try to get them to take a look at you, maybe you could get recruited.) :thumb:

Thank You. I'm taking 2 AP classes this year, 2 IB classes, Spanish 3, and Pre-Calc. Next year I'm planning on taking all IB classes. I would also like to know if being of Egyptian heritage and speaking Arabic fluently would help my chances at all.

Thanks

your heritage, as far as I know, will play no role in being accepted.
The arabic might help.

Your academics seem solid (i.e. better than mine)
Your test scores are good, keep testing though, never hurts to improve
As for athletics, is the soccer varsity? It helps quite a bit to have a varsity letter

One thing I'm not seeing a lot of is leadership, other than jv captain, what else can you do in your school to demonstrate that you have leadership skills? Try to become captain of soccer if at all possible.

All in all, you have a good package, but you are lacking in extra-curricular leadership, which is a big consideration for USAFA. Did you apply for the summer seminar?

I lettered in soccer this year and next year I hope to letter in track as well. I realize that my leadership is weak. I didn't apply for the summer seminar sadly, but I'm planning on going to Egypt this summer and maybe teaching some kids English or helping out at an orphanage. Would the orphanage be considered leadership? I'm also trying to get a spot as a camp counselor and I taught little 4 year olds fundamentals of several sports at my community center.

It's hard to tell if the orphanage would count, but it won't hurt to include it, the worst that happens is that the Academy doesn't count it,\.
