I've been running for a while now to prepare for beast and am in need of some new running shoes. I was wondering if they will issue training shoes at the academy or if we were expected to bring our own. If you know what type are issued please let me know.
Thanks!

The Third Admissable addresses this very point on the R-Day Packing List..
No, you gotta bring your own.

With all of the individual factors at play with runners - pronation; over pronation; etc., you need to get your own. If you're unsure, I recommend going to a 'real' running store (i.e., not the one at the mall with the guys in the referee jerseys) and get evaluated. They will usually have a tread mill to evaluate your running style and gait, and then make an informed suggestion on the shoes which are best for you.

Tell them you will be running roughly five miles a day (I think that's a legit average) and that it will be mostly 'road' running, and not on a track. They will set you up. It might cost a few dollars more for the first pair, but if they work out for you, you can go to the mall next time armed with a knowledge of what you really need.

Don't be surprised if you find out that the 'cool brand' you've always worn in the past is NOT what you walk out of there with.

Another note, try to keep the colors and flashy designs a bit more muted also. Remember, you're at BEAST and don't want to be known as the guy/gal with the neon shoes.

One pair, but with the amount of running we will be doing through Beast, we might need a second pair when the Academic year starts.

My son was fitted at RoadRunner and they did a custom fit in-sole. My son really wanted a different brand/style, but the guy highly recommended a less expensive brand/model for him based upon the fitting. RoadRunner keeps your info in their system so we can go back at anytime to get another pair.
