Does having a Presidental nomination look better then a Congressional one? Or are they both equally the same?

A nom is a nom is a nom.

A nomination is a nomination no matter the source.

The benefit of the presidential nom is that you can complete your file very early and get appointed before congressional noms are given out. Most MOCs do interviews in Oct/Dec...but theoretically, you could submit in July and be appointed in the first round if you have a presidential.

Not exactly.

A Presidential nomination is not competitive, it is given automatically if the candidate's parent(s) meet the criteria.

There are an unlimited amount of Presidential nominations, but only 100 appointments can be selected from those unlimited nominations.

Correct, but every candidate should also understand (as I know you do mom3boys) that they should not rely on the Presidential nom only, they should apply for each and every nomination category that they are eligible for, even after you are assured of your Presidential nom. This gives the academy a lot more "leeway" in admitting/appointing the best class from all possible sources.

Thank you!
What are the parent's criteria to be selected for a Presidental nom??

You will submit a form similiar to the AF 586(depends on the branch) that is a service summary with points (active duty and active reserve recieve points for duties/years served) your parent must have a min of 2880 points ( basically 8 years of duty) or has recieved a LOE m,or letter of eligibility for retirement (after 20 yrs of service)

I did lots of research on this to see which one of my parents qualified. Good luck!:)

Luigi, thank you for your clarity. You have a knack for explaining things so well to our future SA candidates :thumb: .
