Raise your GPA. If you've still got some school days left, study for your finals as much as possible. Do take the ACT. You may very well find it easier than the SAT.
It's Embry-Riddle, not Emory riddle.
Boys State is great.
Other ECs/athletics look good.
I'd say you have a good shot if you get that GPA up.

any idea on how much your college choices effect your selection? say im looking at a more average state school, would they accept a lower academic score? as opposed to having average grades and asking for rice univ (not sure if they have rotc but just an example)

also im scheduling an appointment with the recruting officer at my 1st school choice Texas State.

what should i bring?
resume, letters of recommendation, etc....

Well, it's kind of a given that if you're looking at Rice (or something like that), the quality of person applying for a ROTC scholarship there is probably going to be higher than one applying to Texas State. So, yes, it does affect your chances, but to what extent, I don't think anyone knows with absolute surety.

It is good to bring those things, yes, and also whatever else you're told to bring when you set up your interview over the phone. You could wear your JROTC uniform if you like. I was requested to do so, actually.

Not sure what GPA (weighted or unweighted) you are talking about, but I suspect you are talking weighted because it is difficult for someone in their 5th semester in HS to raise their GPA more than 1/6 of the difference to a perfect 4.0 without a weighting factor or taking additional classes.

Regardless, you cannot do anything more about your GPA once this semester is done as far as your scholarship application goes. Strangely enough where you rank (percentile) in your class is more important than the actual GPA as different schools grade differently, but given an identifyable student population (based upon demographics of your school supplied in your transcript), CC can figure out how well you rate nationally academically when combined with your test scores.

And speaking of test scores, absolutely take both ACT and SAT again as the 1050 is probably not strong enough to get you a scholarship in this increasingly competitive (more applicants and fewer scholarships offered) environment. You might consider a summer class specific to taking the SAT as it is a test that can be taught (strategies for identifying the correct answer more quickly) from a technique standpoint. If nothing else, buy the book by the College Board about the SAT. It has several past tests (actual questions) at the back that you can practice on and see what kind of questions you are having what kind of difficulty with.

You leadership is fine and adding a sport (especially if you can make varsity)for your senior year will help a little with another relatively weak area of your application. You might also want to work on improving the areas around the PFT (not the APFT as CC seems to want to use PFT as it is more available to students everywhere). That is an area where you can always score more points on the Athlete part of Student/Athlete/Leader scale.

Do consult (via email is fine) as to what the ROO or PMS at the interview wants to do with your interview. Some like cadets in uniform, others would rather see their interviewees in a more relaxed (khakis and polo) dress. Some units will offer you an opportunity to do the APFT to size you up athletically and will want you to bring athletic wear along with you. Every unit is different, so don't be upset with any answer.

The interview is a two-way street where the ROO/PMS both sizes you up and sells his/her program. Since you are sold on Texas State, make sure you let the PMS/ROO know this and ask questions about what opportunities they have in their unit. Even if you don't get the scholarship, they do screen walk-ons (most schools restrict enrollment in MS classes to those approved by the PMS). Being there from day one of Frosh year also enhances your chances at a campus-based scholarship.

Best of luck.

To Max the Scholar portion of the PMS interview you need two of the following;
  • Valedictorian/Salutatorian
  • Membership in National Honor Society
  • Honors or Advanced Placement Program Courses (Completed)
  • GPA over 3.0 AND SAT/ACT over 1100/24
  • Top 10% of class
If you are applying for a scholarship, you want to get two of those.
Or at least one if you can max the other two categories;

Athletic (2 to max)
  • Varsity Letter from High School team
  • Membership of regional/city/competitive league
  • Either active involvement in organized competitive (club, church league) team, sports or active involvement in individual athletic, competitions (triathlon, mountain biking, running, etc.)
Leadership (2 to max)
  • Elected member of student government, class, activity Leader (check all that apply)
  • Captain of athletic or academic team - Eagle Scout/Gold Star/CAP Billy Mitchell
  • Served in position of responsibility in school/club or private organization and leader in volunteer
    service organization activities
