Class Rank

I was wondering, how will I send in my class rank to WP? Will that be done through the official's document (the one which verifies your ECs)?

I'm asking this because the class rank is not written on the grade report.

Also, how will I notify the Admissions Office that, in my school, grades go from 0 to 10, but 7 and above is honors?

And one last thing - anyone knows the entire content of the SSK (second-step kit)? I remember seeing it the other day but I can't seem to find it anymore. I'm just trying to prep everything so I can send them in 1st thing when the SSK is available!

Thanks a lot!

Usually, yes, it should be on your EC form. Your best bet is to ask your scool counselor or someone from admin.

If your school ranks, then your class rank should be noted on your transcript.
The transcript request section on the SSK is called: Request for Academic Information.

No - the part of the SSK where a school official verifies your activities is in the Candidate Activities Record (CAR) section.
Your class rank will not be part of that verification.
You enter your activities, the school official verifies them. You will not be entering your class rank. That comes from the transcript.
The CAR section has two parts:
a) you enter the contact info of the school official who will validate your activities - usually the counselor, principal or a school administrator.
b) the section where you enter your activities

Also, how will I notify the Admissions Office that, in my school, grades go from 0 to 10, but 7 and above is honors?

As part of the transcript, there is usually a school profile included. This indicates the competitiveness of the school. Hopefully, your school official will have an explanation of the grading system either on the transcript or on the profile.
For example - a school could say, an A+ = 98 and above, an A= 94-97, etc. This shows the scale that your grades were based on.
If it concerns you, ask the official that will be sending your transcript if there is a description of the grading system. If not - ask them to include it.

Don't worry so much!
You are not the first candidate to apply from another country. WP has done this before.
If you are concerned, send an email off to your RC and explain your concerns.

Is this what you were looking for?

Yes it is! Thanks a lot.

Sorry for my anxiety. I understand I am not the first overseas candidate, and that WP actually has an Officer who handles overseas candidates.

But it seems I am one of the 1st (if not the very own) applicant from the South Hemisphere. As I said before, I am trying to compile everything I can as soon as possible because my school has never done something like this, as far as I know.

No varsity letters in my app because there are no varsity letters at my school (or any brazilian school as far as I am aware).

Nomination.

Just a series of tiny headaches that turn into a huge one.

I talk to my Admissions Officer from time to time alright, but I'll just get into the specific SSK topics with him when I get my SAT scores (which were delayed 'till Saturday).

Thank you for your infinite patience, buff.

(Or at least you are really good at not showing anger through writing... whatever that means haha!)

No need to apologize. You do face challenges in the application process that the "States' candidates don't - so your concern is understandable.
You're forging new territory with your school.
There's noone there who's done this before.
You have a very different grade scale.
No Varsity letters offered when you read that being a Varsity athlete is important.
Your course offerings are not like the high schools here.
I'm sure there are days you feel like  :frown: :bang:

You're wise to start preparing now for when the SSK opens - especially with your unique circumstances.
I'm just trying to allay some of your fears that you may be disadvantaged because you live outside the States.
You have an Admissions Rep who knows how to handle your special issues. You're in good hands! Let that be of comfort to you. :thumb:

Buff81 and BillSL I also am applying from overseas and have been lurking on this forum and following all your threads closely. One question I have is how does my application get flagged to go to the special RC? When I filled out the questionaire I had to use my Stateside address because I was told the system couldn't take my overseas address as it isn't a military post.

BillSL- I understand your concerns and have a lot of the same questions and worries. Varsity sports being a big one. I flew in this week to NYC and will be heading to SLS tomorrow. I am also waiting on the delayed SAT results.

PM'ed.

For the record, if you have an address on the U.S., it's one less hurdle. Some nomination sources require you to have an address in the U.S.

My RC (Admissions Officer actually) has been really helpful so far. So perhaps he can help you out as well (other overseas candidates < )

Someone mentioned something about a form or something that verifies Extra curricular's. What form is that?

As part of the SSK (the on-line application), there is a section where you enter your ECs.
You will also enter the contact information of a school official who can verify that what you say you did - you actually did!

Okay yes I did that last year. I thought they were saying that there were actual paper forms you had to fill out and mail. That is a big relief thank you:biggrin:
