I received a 4 year scholarship from the March board. I still have not received any notification from the medical people. The scholarship papers state that DODMERB will contact me within 90 days and it seems odd to have not received anything by now.

Medical Exam

Chip, If you have not yet taken your Medical exam through DODmerb/DODmets you should contact them immediately...as in tomorrow morning. Google DODMERB and contact them. You could also contact the ROO at your school of choice for guidance.

Call here asap and see what's going on.

call 1-800-841-2706 from 7AM-4 PM, Mountain Time, Mon - Fri

It is really important you get in front of this. You cannot receive any monies without being contracted and you can't contract without DodMERB approval.

Chip, you were supposed to have received a letter in the mail with instructions about getting a physical exam, auditory exam, and eye exam. The letter lists the physicians in your area you must visit, and a link to the DODMETS website to fill out a medical questionnaire. you must fill out when you visit for the physical.

All that information is also available at https://www.dodmets.com/AppLogIn.aspx Just enter your social security number and last name, and you will get into the system that will walk you through the medical qualifying procedure.

I never received that letter which is strange. This delay might have something to do with my service academy application. I created a file for USMA and was contacted by DODMERB last year then realized USMA was not for me, so I ignored notifying DODMERB. Ill be giving them a call.

It doesnt help I leave in a few days for college.. Project GO participant

By ignoring the orginal Dodmerb request you probably just fell out of the system. This is probably why a letter was never sent to you since they had already sent the letter early on.

The problem here is that there is a time limit after receiving the scholarship to get the Dodmerb requirements completed, I would think that time has since past. You should call the ROO or PMS at the school you received and accepted your scholarship. You did send in the acceptence letter correct? Don't wait, make these calls right away, call Cadet Command (Your POC) and let them know what is going on. It would be a shame to lose the scholarship because you missed one of the required steps.

I'm curious as to how you are able to participate in Project Go before you have started ROTC. I know you don't have to be a contracted cadet, but I thougt there was an application process that included approval from your PMS. I ask because it is something my son is interested in doing when he starts ROTC.

I agree with Jcleppe, this system is based on time sensitivity. I would bet they can rectify it, but the bigger problem is if it can be done fast enough to clear you for fall semester. It will actually become an issue fiscally since many schools will dis-enroll students within a few weeks if their balance is not current. For your parents it could mean that they may have to pay a payment plan until the money arrives. Every school is different. Some will allow fall to float for the scholarships and loans to appear, but believe it or not registration starts in mid-Oct, and if they all it to float, they will then lock the account for spring registration.

There were several cadets ly on this board that found themselves in this predicament (different branches), it is a rarity, and easily solved by getting your unit involved. It isn't fun and can be a pain, especially if you were thinking you were going to use stipend money as your "fun" money. It also can cause a delay in the book stipends too.

It is all inter-connected.
