My parents stayed at the Holiday Inn Express there in Lex Vegas whenever they visited me during my rat year. By Parents' Weekend of my Third Class year, the hotel rates in town had increased greatly, and I was begging them to stay in Staunton anyway.
As a rat, I was thrilled to see my family, get off Post, SLEEP!, eat in a restaurant, and go to Wal-Mart.
As a Third, I was a little more high maintenance. I was thrilled to see my family, but they were my ticket to do all of the above
in civvies, because Staunton is out of Rockbridge County.
If you do venture down to Staunton, check out the Mill Street Grill. It became a bit of a tradition for my family, to include dinner before the Ring Figure Ball and the big family dinner right before graduation. Good times.
