Has anybody or when will we receive our information card in the mail that has our USMA cadet mailbox and company assignment on it? Thank you very much!

You should learn your post office box number anytime now but we did not learn our cadet's company until R-Day. We picked up a card in Ike Hall that had his Beast company on it. The post office folks were there also and we were able to write our cadet a post card and mail it right then for him to receive the next day.

Don't forget that mail should be addressed "New Cadet XXXX". You are not a "Cadet" until A-Day.

Parents, my cadet never has been and probably never will be a letter-writer. I think I only received 3 during Beast, but I had success sending a "form letter" along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. I listed fill-in-the-blank questions and space to elaborate and we were pleased to receive a "newsy" letter from him even if it was just him answering the questions.

You should receive it very soon. Last year the letter was dated June 8th although I'm not sure when we actually received it, so be on the lookout for it.

I refer to this page often for information/schedules. There's a link regarding proper cadet mailing instructions. http://www.usma.edu/Dcomm/wppc.asp

And that would just be the beast company, anyway???? They will likely be assigned a new company on A-day, is that correct?

we did notice the letter with the parking pass return address referenced two regiments. Which made us wonder if that's a hint at BEAST regiments or if those two regiments were handling all cadet candidates.

Yes, on R-Day, you will learn your cadet's CBT company. They are assigned to a different company for the academic year. (I suppose some cadets could end up in the same company for the academic year as their Beast company.)

I don't remember hearing anything about regiments before CBT. I don't remember what that letter said.

Your company really does not matter for mailing letters. You will get a P.O. Box number, and that will stay the same for CBT, and the academic year. Here is a link to a WP site where you can click on "mailing instructions".

While at CBT address will be:

New Cadet John Doe
P.O. Box 123
West Point, NY 10997-123 (note that they like to see po box repeated here).

Same address during academic year except no need for the "New".

I thought I remembered from last year that it was recommended that we put their Beast company and "Cadet Basic Training" (in addition to their box number) on the letters to aid in sorting, particularly when they were at Camp Buckner. I think if it was so designated, it was delivered to them in the woods.

It is suggested you do this for Camp Buckner because the letters are forwarded from West Point to the Post Office in Camp Buckner. Letters are not delivered to the field. I don't see why they would need to have their companies on them during Beast other than in case things get mixed around due to the higher than normal amount of mail sent during that period. None of the letters sent to me during Beast had my company written on them and they got there just fine.

There are 4 Regiments during the school year and only one Regiment during Beast so I doubt it is some kind of hint.

Thanks, that answers the question! And is a bit of a relief, as one of the regiments supposedly was a very tough one historically. (Don't know how much that changes from year to year)
