reapplying 3rd time

So...quickly here...

Went to UMass Amherst last year. Took English, History, Calculus, Oceanography, and other major courses. I am currently taking Chemistry this summer and am going to receive an A in it.

This is my 3rd time reapplying to the Academy. Few questions. PLEASE only qualified people respond aka moderators or B&G officers. I know what I need to do for the most part and need just professional guidance, not a fellow candidate.

1. Should I write a completely new essay for admissions?

2. In regards to classes, I am taking Calculus II, Physics I, Intro to Political Science, Italian I. There were no second level English or writing classes available. Political Science was the only history course I could take without any prerequisites that fit in my schedule for Calculus and Physics, the most important classes. So my question, what do I do about my math and english teacher recommendations???

3. I have many volunteer opportunities in line during school and am on the board of directors for my schools Lions Club. Playing intramural baseball and softball and potentially joining the running club. This enough?

4. Recommendations. Last year and the previous year, I have piled on the recommendations from very viable sources that know me very well and are highly esteemed as well. Is there a such thing as too many?

5. What should I take second semester?

6. 3rd time through DoDMERB process...Does it get easier? Had to get a waiver and it lasted for 2 years...what might the process be like again? Not as long or hard?

I am reapplying for the 3rd time as well and I have those exact same questions! And I agree it would be nice to hear from qualified people! Thank you in advance as well!

1. Yes, I would recommend writing new essays. You have both matured academically and personally, your essays should reflect this maturation and how/why you continue to pursue your dream of attending USNA.
2. You state you are took Calc I and have signed up for Calc II. (Am I correct??) Either way, secure a recommendation from the math professor. History or Intro to Pol Sci must be a courses that require written assignments, if this is the case then request a rec from that professor. You did state you took an English course, you should be requesting a rec from that prof if this is the case.
3. Sounds fine. It is important to stick with what you are doing and find a leadership role within that organization.
4. Yes. Submitting any more than two, in addition to those that are requested (Math/English), are too many. (per June BGO training)
5. Calc III (multivariable Calc), Physics II, some sort of Intro to Engineering (you should be taking this 1st semester), English Lit, Writing or Communications, Physical Education (Swimming, self defense, life sport)
6. DoDMERB is DoDMERB. You know the process well by now so have all your documentation ready to go, you know what they will question, get your physical out of the way early.

Have you read the sticky titled "Reapplying... What to do" ? I can't believe it doesn't treat the questions you are asking.
 
To OP: You mention taking chemistry and getting an A (well done). If you have not taken two semesters of chemistry (with lab), be sure to do so.

Doing well in one semester demonstrates that you can handle college chemistry. The second semester will help with validation at USNA.

thank you for your guidance I will take it all in stride.

My only concern....the math teacher will not have much time to get to know me even if I frequent their office hours, I am concerned this could hurt my recommendation from the math department especially in a college classroom with 100+ kids in the class...

USNA understands this and the fact that your rec will be largely based on your grade. And they're ok with that. There are some ways you can stand out -- be an active participant, turn in any assignments on time, etc. But even if the prof doesn't know you, it's ok.
 
question...

I am taking a summer chemistry course. It is about 18 students, and the teacher has gotten to know me very well....could I have this teacher do my "Math recommendation" or does that have to strictly be from a Math teacher?
 
I would check with your RD. USNA wants math and English. They will permit exceptions but only on a case-by-case basis.
