For those of you who might be reporting to SMCs in August, there will likely be a number of Alumni events in your area aimed at giving new cadets a "salute" before they are off to their respective SMCs. Norwich calls these events "Freshmen Sendoffs". It's basically a very informal picnic-type event (usually held at an alum's house) where the prospective cadets and their families get to ask a ton of questions about what they can expect at the SMC. You will also get to meet some of your peers from your area on whom you will lean heavily during your first year (and beyond).
If you happen to receive an invite to such an event, you should definitely try to attend. It's worth it. If you don't receive an invite, then contact the admissions office at your SMC and ask whether there will be a sendoff in your local area this summer.
Perhaps those from the other SMCs can chime in and advise whether they do something similar.
In any event, keep up the PT regimen and good luck!!!
