Just a reminder for BCT family and friends to start writing and sending the letters out to your basics. Mail letters out now and they may receive them within a week or so. Mail is very slow for BCT. Those letters meant so much to our son during BCT!

One of the best things you can do during BCT.....WRITE, WRITE, WRITE to your Basic....100 times or more...thats OK :thumb:

We sent at least one letter or postcard each day during BCT. Son laughed about receiving so many letters at first, but later in the year he expressed how much each of the letters meant to him.

So it's ok to send my son a postcard? Will that cause any issues for him during basic....i promise not to cry on it, put hearts, or write in pink :) really though, post cards are good?

Postcards

CadCandMateus - you are hilarious! To COMom2015, yes you can certainly send your Basic postcards, but know in advance that they are fair game for Cadre to read aloud. So, best idea is to refrain from writing anything personal, but instead include some good jokes or stories that will provide much needed levity for all. In fact, that's a good idea for all parents sending letters - keep them light, informative, and above all, humorous. Basics will be dealing with enough that's depressing, and will be experiencing a heavy dose of homesickness. Anything uplifting, positive or funny will help them get through the day.

Sure, and make sure to say lots of personal things and sappy sentiments (especially if your child is in Aggressors-D or Barbarians-A flights.).

Oh, one more thing: make sure, if your child is in Aggressors D or Barbarians A flights, that you put something like "Baltimore Ravens Fan!" or "Cleveland Browns rock!" or "Tom Brady and the Patriots! Yay!" or even "Cincinnati Bengals Rule!" on the envelope/postcard. Yes, that should get your kid some very special attention.

Fortunately my W. PA son is a Steelers fan and would disown anyone who made/wrote those kind of lies.

If any basics are in Executioners D flight for Jack's Valley portion of BCT, then putting anything on the envelope about the awesome NBA Champs Dallas Mavericks, might just get your basic a day off
