Post which session you are attending, which state you are coming from, any questions about AIM, or any advice that you wish to give to AIMsters.

As the originator of this thread, I will go first. I am attending AIM session 2. I am coming from Missouri. I do not have any questions at this time thanks to the threads posted by bluesands17 and tobyornottoby.

Session 1 from California!

I was going to ask if sunglasses could be brought, but seeing how the whole week is going to be thunder and lightning...lol

Beautiful weather here in CT right now.
and yes...you may bring sunglasses.

I have only one question... What should we wear to the Academy on the first day of AIM?

I don't know about the dress code. But for SLS, most people were using kakhi pants and a polo shirt when they arrived. There was no requirement prior to arrival, though.

I have only one question... What should we wear to the Academy on the first day of AIM?

I recommend a t-shirt printed with "PUSH UP CHAMPION OF MISSOURI" on the front, and "GO KP BEAT COAST GUARD" on the back. Perhaps Superman emblems on the sleeves to add a little color.

Most people will show up in clean shorts and a clean T-shirt, and athletic shoes.

Really, it doesn't matter - you will be changing out of whatever you wear.

Here's a few photos from last year as the AIMsters reported, you should be able to judge for yourself:

Question:what kind of "oath" are the AIMsters taking in this picture?

I am going to Session 3 and I'm from South Jersey. So excited!

Thanks Luigi. That helped :) another question... I was reading the packing list and it says to bring " one set of twin bed sheets with pillow case" does this mean they will provide the pillow? Or should I pack my own.

When I attended in 2009, no pillow was provided; they just gave you the room. So you basically just have the bed frame and the mattress with regard to your question

Thanks! I will defiantly bring the pillow then. On a side note, I'm glad that this thread is working as well as it is. Thanks for all of the support guys.

I just came back from AIM session 1!
Any questions, just ask away, but I don't want to ruin the fun for anyone.

Pillows were provided, but blankets were not.

packing?

Did you pack anything that you didn't use? Is there anything you wished you would have packed?

thanks!

There were lots of stuff I didn't use, but they all had a purpose behind them.
One example was the swimsuit. We didn't go swimming, but it was used for showering if you had the time to put it on and if you felt uncomfortable with showering with other people (girls had seperate stalls if I was told correctly, boys just have a room with showerheads)

I didn't use athletic compression shorts, or bathrobe, to name a few, but again, these all have a purpose behind them. I just never found the time to be able to use them.

Luigi59,

Good picture of that Aimster :shake:wearing the blue Phillies Championship shirt - current class of 2015!

I got back from AIM week 2 last Saturday. Week 3 should be living large right about now, it being Friday. If anyone needs advice for AIM next year (i.e. upcoming Juniors) feel free to ask me any questions. I will answer most, but to fully experiance AIM you just have to be there. I am defienatly applying for the Academy now that I have been through AIM. Funny AIM side story: According to my roommate I would recite the mission of the United States Coast Guard Academy in my sleep. Congrats to the Class of 2015, I saw alot of you while at AIM and talked to one from MO. Good Luck and see you next year!

Whoa Mitch, with the Sea Shepherd avatar. Love the show Whale Wars....but I think the actions of the Sea Shepherd's are highly illegal. The Coast Guard has had multiple run-ins with the group.
