Figuring out their companies

Hello all,
After they're in their shorts and t shirts, do they only stay in their own companies? Forgive me if you've read this before on another thread, but I found pics of my son in Antonelli's photos. I can't see his right hand, but the people he's standing with opposite in the hallway have a 2 on their right hand. Does that mean he's in 2nd company, or just that he managed to get caught in the same hallway and got stopped? LOL... My local parent's association said to learn the faces of the people in the same company so he can be found easier.

He is in company 2. They may change companies only when the B splitters come back from sea if they need the room and then again, they may put the B splitters in a new company if there isn't enough room for them to go back into their old company.

It could just mean he's opposite the 2nd company in the hallway.

don't think so since the ones I know that are in 1co say that 2co is connected by a hallway, not across from them. If you look at the building, it is a L shape building with 1co straight in front of you and 2co to the left side.

How do you tell what Company they are in?

I zoomed in on quite a few of the pictures trying to identify my son. I "think" that if you look at picture of p/c in their blue gym uniforms you'll see i.e (their last name, 15 4) which would be last name, class of 2015, company 4.
Can anyone confirm?

how are they divided up? i asked my boyfriends dad, and he told me he was in 4th company. but when i look at all the pictures they're grouped as 301, 202, 401...ect. i've been trying to find him in all the pictures but have failed to do so....

For Indoc, they split a company into, I think, platoons.
For instance, Platoon 401 and Platoon 401 are both part of 4th company.

'All Hail the mighty 4th company !" -- sorry , couldn't resist. :)
...
A pointer for finding your boy. When you *DO* spot him, memorize the gals around (look hard, it's only 10%).
you'll get really good at spotting 'the tall redhead' or 'the short gal with dimples'.
You can really zoom through a lot of photos that won't apply.
Conversely, you can drive yourself NUTS trying to figure out...."Is that ear sticking out during pushups HIS ear:)"
...
Welcome all you new parents... If you are like me, you will wear out the F5=Refresh key as you are waiting for new pics/links to get posted.

Thank you to all of you who have posted pictures and videos as it helps to know what our children are doing. We couldn't attend Indoc with our son and we are looking forward to parents weekend. We are still trying to make flight arrangements for that weekend and from Vegas it is quite expensive. We are trying to fly to Newark on Friday morning and drive there. Does anyone have any saving tips as we need any assistance that can be provided. Thanks.

Regarding Company Assignments....
Historically, a list(excel spreadsheet?) is produced and emailed to the Parents Association Presidents. From there, the Presidents generally send them out to the parents of Candidates in their individual associations.

I don't know if they still do that or not. Contact your parent association to check on that/or maybe one of our National presidents has an answer/timing for us.

There are all sorts of privacy issues at KP. In the past state presidents and national parent officers were given a list of company assignments. Now we cannot even get a list of names, let alone company assignments.:thumbdown::thumbdown:

This kind of stuff kills me. The privacy act laws are insanely out of control, you should see the medical privacy laws.

Mine had what looked like an H and I was told it meant haircut on the first day, but I know he wore burgundy shirt from the Navy federal pictures...again I was told that was 4th company - so I am confused all over again, I am wondering would he have had both a 4 and an H?? We are a little bit desperate these days are we not? I am betting it will get a whole lot better comes Sunday, when almost ALL our questions will be answered even the silly ones :)

During reporting day, H's were put on the hands of those in need of a haircut. You are correct - maroon shirts indicate 4th company. So your DS is in 4th company and was in need of a haircut!

Great! Mine stood to the next little brunette on the boat......I get it, look for the little brunette - thank you. If the stencil is correct, then mine is 4th also. Does that mean NO AC?? - we did not bring a fan, went strictly by list :(

I was told 4th co barricks DID have a/c. You should just the 2015 facebook page for parents/family if you haven't already. Lots of parent support and info. Just search for Parents and Family of USMMA Class of 2015

All co's except band have AC however, not sure where they are housing all the summer school students this year. When my M/N went through INDOC the plebes were housed in one of the old buildings without AC even though the company assigned had AC but the summer school kids were berthed there.

Maroon shirts/4th company. Yay. (hahah, still biased ).

A/C-well, yes.
Just like in hotel rooms, some A/C units may work better than others. They should fill out work-order request if theirs doesn't work well. That gets the ball OUT of their court (they've reported it). And, somewhere between 'quick response' and 'never came' may be the result. kinda like pushing the button so the sign will change and you can cross the street.
And, don't stress... the NEX has fans available.
They should be able to pick one up there, or have their 'big brother' assigned to help/mentor them do it, or their Indoc leaders, or their Company staff, or any upperclassmen who look sympathetic (they've been there too.. they'll find one)

However, UNLIKE in hotel rooms, they will:
NOT have a maid to make their beds,
NOT have a chocolate treat put on their pillows at night (Unless their company training officer(running and pushup officer) does it ... hahah, i crack me up)
NOT have anyone vacuum their floor :) ,
NOT have anyone clean their sinks :) ,
NOT have anyone pick up their socks :) ,
NOT have anyone wash their clothes :) ,
NOT have anyone clean the bathrooms down the hallway :) .
--- in short, ALL the Candidates will be doing that... all year ---

SO, parents, if you DID introduce them to the washer and dryer before they left?? No worries if you didn't, they WILL be showing your DS/DD what they look like and how they work. Just hoping YOURS won't be the one responding "Ok, Sir, so... it's the dryer SECOND, the washer FIRST... right?" ;) [It's true]
One of the best INDOC pics posted was our DS, in front of an ironing board WITH an iron, pressing his uniform :) woo hoo!

Through all the stories, trials, challenges, victories and defeats... you will notice a SIGNIFICANT change in your DS/DD by the time Parents Weekend comes around -- and it is just a glimmer of what will happen across those 4 years, ESPECIALLY after Sea.

They will be learning to depend upon themselves, and one another.

Parents:
1) talk with your Parents Associations [ join NOW if you haven't ]... they are going to be YOUR support, and parents who have been through some of this are ahead of you, and will be happy to be your mentor/guides through the swamp -- after all, someone else did it for them.

2) BREATHE. :)
It is a GRAND experience , like no other.

We're flying from SFO on the Thursday night red eye and arriving at JFK before 6:00 am so as not to miss colors. We missed it last time. A red eye is an option to get there early in the morning and not have to miss work on Thursday.

Wow, just feel so fortunate it's only a 5-6 hour drive for us up to USMMA, red eyes wipe me out these days... that said and in retrospect, it would be worth it, if that's what we'd have needed to do to be able to get up to Parent's Weekend during DS' plebe year.
