If a rising senior pursuing an Army ROTC scholarship application submits the application in August, how should they describe their senior year activities on the application?
In other words, should my son check off activities that he honestly and sincerely plans to participate in, or positions he expects to attain, even if they haven't begun yet?
Along the same lines, what about varsity/JV status? My son has been JV soccer his first three years, and is confident he'll make varsity his senior year. Given it's a winter sport here, he won't know that with absolute certainty until November. Should he indicate varsity, given that's his sincere belief of what's going to happen? (It's too bad, by the way, that the Army places such weight on varsity participation, given how wildly different qualifying for varsity can be between, say, a little school in the country and our 3,500-student school in the city.)
