I know the Maritime Academies don't get a lot of talk, but for those interested in the Texas Maritime Academy, here are a few videos.

I will be there this fall, and I know it has changed quite a bit in the recent years becoming a tad more inline with the main campus Corp of Cadets. I don't know for myself, but looking forward to the maritime training.

Mike: thanks for the post, those are pretty interesting. I look forward to hearing more about TMA! How big is the Corps ? I know they used to have a ship called the Texas Clipper, but I thought that I read they were sailing on the Cal Maritime ship Golden Bear last year?
Galveston in August will be pretty hot- keep cool and keep us informed as you become a Sea Aggie!

The current ship I believe is called is the U.S.S Cape Gibson. It is stationed on campus, but the problem is, TMA has yet to get funding to outfit it to qualify it as a training ship. I know they are working on this though. Cadets still work and train on it, but as you said, they sail on the Golden Bear on the summer cruises. The Corps population is around 300+ as far as I know. Around 160 cadets will be arriving this fall for o-week. I'll try and keep posted.

Heading to the new transfer student orientation tomorrow to sign up for classes, learn some Aggie yell, and some other things. Should be interesting.

Congrats on your choice. I tried so hard to talk my daughter (non-reg, she's not the cadet type lol) into looking at TAMUG but she wanted to be closer to home for now, then transfer over to College Station to get that ring. ;)
