as i said previously i am a freshman student going to start in AROTC and a private university and i went and talked to and ROTC cadre about doing my DODMERB and i will get it all completed with in a month my biggest concern will be this...
1) i have a very extensive juvenile record i was very immature and very rebellious but now i am more mature being at an older age but i fear that the army will still see me as that 14 year old kid.
2)even tho i am attending a prestigious university. i transferred from my first year at a community college and my sat scores and act score are not even near meeting minimal requirement for the army scholarship.

any insight on what i should do or can do will be greatly appreciated

my goal is to contract by the end of this fall and to be the most involved member in my platoon and battalion and yes i did three yrs in a naval JROTC program so most of this is familiar to me but like i said any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

You will not contract until your Junior year unless you are doing SMP or on scholarship.

Be honest with the cadre at the school, tell them upfront about your past. To be an officer you need to be able to get a security clearance, your past may prevent that. The cadre will be able to tell you what your chances are.

The biggest thing is do not hide anything, they will find it when they do the clearance when you are ready to contract and it will not go well for you.

The Army ROTC is getting very selective, a simple speeding ticket with a fine over $250.00 can be enough to keep you out.

My bet is that your past will be an issue, you will need waivers which they are not giving much these days. Talk to your cadre and good luck.

Concur...Plan on contracting in your Junior year. You will not be a candidate for a scholarship with all that baggage. Consider talking to a recruiter about the SMP program. You may have problems enlisting also with your background. Your best bet is to be the best enrolled cadet in the Battalion, and prove to the cadre that you deserve a shot. I'm willing to bet that your PMS is going to want to take her/his time evaluating whether you deserve that Gold Bar.

Don't be that guy. There are some former JROTC cadets that lord it over everyone. Instead, use it to help other people and lift them up. That way they'll respect you. Oh and be open to the idea that you don't know it all.

I don't want that to sound harsh, just want you to be well liked by other cadets. :thumb:
