Scholarship possiblenwith Epi Pen?

I've been prescribed an Epi Pen in hoped to have better luck with applying for scholarships this year. Has anyone heard of someone who was granted a military scholarship or admitted into an academy while prescribed an Epi Pen? Has anyone ever heard of a way around a peanut allergy?

The need for an epi-pen is in my experience a disqualifier with a very, very, very low likelihood for a waiver.

There are just too many things that can go wrong in an operational environment for someone who requires an epi-pen.

Is that for all branches of military? Should I even bother...?

You mentioned peanut allergy so I'm assuming that is what you have. Unfortunately, a peanut allergy is a severe allergy which obviously you know if you have been issued an EpiPen. I'm sorry for the circumstance but unless your doctor says you do not need the EpiPen and your peanut allergy no longer interferes with your daily life, I think you are at a stand still. =/ In the long run, if you do have such a severe allergy, you don't want to be in the field and someone have peanuts or something with peanut on it, and you go into anaphylaxis and need your EpiPen. Due to the effects an EpiPen has on your body, you must be medically checked out after each use.

That's an interesting find. Not sure of the veracity of the claims in it as it only references the AR's.

I would say that in reality that point paper simply reaffirms that the need for an epi-pen is a tough hill to overcome. It does say that minimal to mild reactions are usually waivered; however, I would say that people who have only had those reactions would have never sought care or been identified as allergic to "peanuts."

As I always say though. It is better to apply and be denied than to have never applied!
