Parts of a Candidate Kit

What do you mean "PARTS"? Are you referring to the application process? If so, I think it's still called a "KIT", but it's now all ONLINE. It will open up at the end of the month; possibly the first part of july. It consists of you filling out your personal information; essays you answer; instructions on how to submit transcripts and get your sat/act scores submitted; area for you to provide the email addresses of your teachers, so the academy can send them an email link for them to fill out an online assessment of you. Area for you to input your CFA scores. It's basically a check list. It's the application. Some of it you fill out. Some of it is just instruction. Some of it is informative and will show what portions of the application has been completed and what is still awaiting action.

- USAFA Form O-878 - USAF Academy Candidate Writing Sample
- Evaluator Selection Form - You must enter the email address of three teachers who will then submit an evaluation of your suitability to attend the Air Force Academy.

They are all part of the online application (Kit). When you log in, you will see sections that you need to fill out our have filled out and submitted. Some of it; like the writing, is right there online. Some, like the CFA, you will fill out online once you've taken the CFA and you have scores. Some, like your transcripts, are filled out when you have your school submit your transcripts. It's right there in the online application. "Do you have access to the online application"? mike....

I think Blackbird got it all,but just in case, I copied and pasted this from my candidate kit. once you're designated as a "candidate" instead of an "applicant" then you will have access to this page. you can send your transcript,senior year schedule, and ACT SAT scores before you are a candidate though.

I'm sure that one of the ALOs will chime in, but it is my understanding that they have not yet received their candidate assignments yet and that they will be interviewing later this year than last. I think I read that they will be interviewing only candidates that have fully completed the rest of their application. If you have everything else done on your application, start working on Plan B and Plan C. Remember that most appointments will not go out until next March or April.

Blackbird has it right. The Drug/Alcohol is just a briefing. It must be given prior to the candidate filling out the 2030. Matter of fact; until you are briefed, I believe the block for the 2030 form is grayed out, and you can't do that.
As for the Interview, that is still up to the ALO. ALO's are directed to basically not WASTE their time, or the time of admissions on candidates/applicants who aren't serious about applying. Now I know that many believe they are serious, but with so many applicants, it's a time consuming process. Therefor, ALO's are being directed to not do the 4060 form or the interview until the applicant has shown that they have done pretty much everything they can do. This way; if the applicant gets that early acceptance letter from Georgetown or USC that they applied for in September, and decides to stop their applying for the academy, the ALO and Admissions isn't wasting their time with another package.
The most difficult thing for most applicants, is the CFA. It's the one thing that you actually have control over; yet many applicants will keep practicing until December/January to try and ace it. I'm not recommending rushing your application and the CFA; but if you happen to be one of the 3.90+gpa; 29/30+ACT; 2000+SAT' applicants, who's also involved with a lot of sports, extra curricular activities, leadership, volunteering, etc... Then don't wait 6 months to finish your CFA.
Where I live, it's a small population. An ALO might have only as many as 10 applicants, or as little as 3-4; with only half of them being truly qualified. It doesn't affect an ALO here as much to do the interview and hold off on the 4060 until the candidate has completed their application. But in a town where there are thousands of applicants, some ALO's could have 20+ candidates, many of which are qualified. They have lives too. They don't want to waste their time on a candidate who isn't serious. So, if you want to be taken serious, get your application done as soon as possible. best of luck... Mike....
