Cadet Medal?

Does anyone know what the gold medal on this cadets uniform is? I never had a chance to ask him since he only wore it once or twice. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=228604800499452&set=t.1124460093&type=1&theater

So I have no idea what the picture shows since it's a link through facebook, but my best guess would be a Naval Academy Exchange pin? If it's on the pocket, gold, kind of big, has a trident on it, and the cadet is a C2C or C1C, that's likely the medal. Again, just a guess since I can't see it.

It is a gold oval with a gold eagle in the middle. I have seen a Navy cadet wearing it as well so I dont think that is it. I know which one the naval academy exchange program is though.

Thanks for the help. Knowing this guy, he could pass the test in his sleep

He went to USMA as an exchanger. Some of our guys have that pin too.

The naval academy has a pin the exchangers get?

For many Soldiers, the honor to earn another country's award is a rare opportunity.

But for a select few from Joint Base Lewis-McChord that opportunity presented itself Saturday and Sunday.

Das Abzeichen fur Leistungen im Truppendienst, or The German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency, is worn normally by German soldiers, but can be earned by U.S. Soldiers of any rank. Those who successfully accomplish all the tasks qualify to wear the gold, silver or bronze award. For the soldiers of the Bundeswehr, this test is administered annually with a growing list of events.

"In Germany we have not only the sport portion of this event, but we have also adapted a first aid test to complete as well, "said Sergeant Maj. Kay Rogge, German Liaison to the Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

The two-day competition was a first for JBLM; the event was hosted by Madigan Army Medical Center. Seventy-four Soldiers began the nine-task process that included a 200-meter swim, 3,000-meter run, shot-put, long jump or high jump, and had the choice to run either a 100-meter sprint or 1,000 meter dash. Those surviving the first day returned for a 9 mm qualifying range and the final event, a 7.5-mile ruck march, in under two hours for those trying to earn the gold badge; 5.6 miles in 90 minutes for the silver badge and 3.8 miles in 1 hour for the bronze badge.

Or it could be another badge that you used to see soldiers who had been stationed in Germany wearing often: die Schutzenschnur which is the German military marksmanship badge.

He was a PTWOB so I highly doubt that he went to USMA on exchange. I also know that I would see this medal more frequently if that were the case. SamAca, I'm not trying to be a jerk about this, but I really think hornetguy hit the nail on the head on this one.

Thanks. Is it only you guys who get that if you go to navy on exchange? I've never seen a Coastie who'd been to USNA wear it.

I'm hoping to go on exchange. Are you thinking about doing it?

Yeah, I'm hoping for Navy but I would love to go to WP to. I applied to USNA but both of my noms were for here.

I applied to USAFA so that would be my first choice, although I'm putting in for the other 2.

Not interested in coming to CGA?
