Chances for medical waiver due to eczema?

I am the mother of a USAFA cadet candidate for the class starting this fall, 2009. Our son has received a congressional nomination and is an official candidate at this time. Although we have not yet received official word from the USAFA, based on his school and athletic performance, test scores, etc., we feel he is likely a competitive candidate.

After his DodMERB medical exam, we received a request for additional medical documentation due to eczema and allergies. We provided the additional information a few weeks ago. Yesterday, he received a letter from DodMERB advising that he was disqualified due to eczema.

We plan to take him to our family doctor for another opinion. Our son plans to prepare a letter to DoDMERB outlining the minor nature of his eczema, and send it to DoDMERB, along with a letter from our doctor. From what I have read on this forum, it appears this may help his chances for a waiver. Is this correct? Does anyone have any additional advice on this topic? If so, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Concerned mother in AZ
