I just got off the phone with my RD and he told me that I have been given an LOA!!!:shake::shake: They were mailed out on friday and it should be at my home tomorrow! The board evidently met a couple of times last week and reviewed the first batch of candidates! I am starting a thread for everyone who gets an LOA to post their stats including Region, GPA, Class Rank, Test Scores, Sports, and anything else that helped your application.

LOA!

:yay: Well, my DS' DoDMERB page just posted the "Subagency: NALOA". All of his nomination applications are in, so just the interview this autumn remains (and maintaining his qualified status, of course). A sincere and special thanks to all the moderators and members on this website: it has truly been a tremendous, invaluable help. 5th Dist. - IL

Congrats to you all!!
Curious if you can each share how much of your application is completed at this time and also if you are a recruited athlete or URM?
Enjoy the moment and work hard towards getting the golden ticket- an appointment!!

My DS is neither a recruited athlete or an "URM". His online app was 100% done, including submission of his BGO interview, by July 22. He (presumably) passed his CFA at NASS, and he was just qualified by DoDMERB last week.

Congrats to everyone with an LOA:thumb:

Do they review your application if BGO interview and dodmerb are the last things to be done?

Am I really at a disadvantage for not being able to get a BGO interview until mid September?

Hi everyone,

My RD said that all things need to be submitted except nomination and medical in order to be put in front of the admissions board. I am not a recruited athlete or minority. My act scores were:

33 Math
32 English

I doubt it. My interview won't be submitted until then, and I'm retaking my CFA at the same time. Plenty of admissions boards!

I keep seeing posts like these with 4.0 GPA's and 35's on the ACT and it is dragging down my hopes to getting in. I will be lucky to get a 3.5 GPA and a 31 on the ACT by the end of my junior year (would be class of '17) :frown:

But congrats to those who already have an LOA for class of 2016. :thumb:

Don't think because you are not on a par with those with LOAs that you have less of a chance. Not true! Most people will not get LOAs - as has been said many times on this forum.

My sons got LOAs and had no where near the credentials as above. There will be some who have similar credentials and will not get an LOA. Why? Who knows?

Don't worry about it. Keep moving forward and put together the best you have to offer. Work on becoming 3Q'd (academically, physically, and medically). Of the over 20,000 who apply, probably 3,000, at best, will meet that criteria. Some of them will not even get a nomination. Once you've made it through those hurdles, your chances skyrocket!

Thank you Memphis for your post. My son has been feeling very much like thecadet as he reads the LOA stats coming in. I think it is good they are posting the stats because lets face it... we do want to know and compare BUT i have been telling my son to not obsess about it all. Look at the big picture- the LOA tend to go to the "no-brainer" candidates and they are probably the top 25% of the applicants. Not the majority.

Son has a completed packet and from what we have gathered is for sure double qualified and most likely 3Q (according to what his BGO believes) with a presidential. He is a URM and the only weakness I can see is his act scores (28M 26E) in all other areas (including high GPA and class rank, outstanding leadership, volunteer, and athletics-CFA) he has stellar stats... still nothing. AND I am NOT surprised. Reading these posts of the LOA makes him only realize that his low ACT are his primary weakness and the good thing is it is driving him too improve. Without seeing the #'s he might take a different approach- comparing the #'s of the class of 2015 he is in the middle 50% (on the low end but in there) without seeing the LOA stats he might have become too comfortable... now he realizes the quality of kids getting in and not willing to slack off.

Do not let the LOA stats discourage you. Remember these are typically the top 25% applicants. Instead use this information to grind it out!! Improve on any areas you can and realize this is a long and often frustrating process but in the end it will be worth it.

a HUGE CONGRATS to all the LOA recipients!

Just to clarify the top 25% of candidates are not all getting LOAs. Historically it has been 100 to 200 a year maybe a little more but I've heard from several BGOs that LOAs have been decreasing recently. I know it's nice to have the LOA in hand but probably 80-90% of the admitted don't and won't have one.

LOA Came Today!!!!

After being notified a couple of weeks ago...my LOA finally arrived today :) I am in Texas, 17th District. A huge relief, good luck to all of you who are waiting...don't let go of hope!
