FY 12 OML Results

thanks marist... is it true that the AD cutoff was raised to 76 this year? That was posted without confirmation by someone on the Cadet Command Facebook page earlier today.

Curious, I was watching the CC Facebook page and I didn't see any post about the cutoff line being 76. I heard from a parent of a cadet that said her daughter thought it was 72, I guess we will all find out soon enough.

The numbers given for the total AD was 2998 out of roughly 5900. Will have to wait until I get confirmation on that tomorrow from my son.

It could be higher but who knows really until the dust settles in a week or so. I was just informed by a buddy who was around a 72 (71.6ish or 72.6ish I can't remember) and he was forced branched reserves.....We all find out tomorrow.

When do they find out their career fields? Do they go through another board?

Just curious.

Also is it traditionally 50% or if it isn't what is the traditional percentage?

There is no "straight" answer to many of these questions.

5643 cadets went before the board. The top ranked Cadet requested and received Reserve Duty. Some Nursing Cadets requested and received Active Duty even though they were in the 5000s on the OML.

It appears that the cutoff for Active Duty for non SMC, non Nursing Cadets was right about 3697. This seems low but a large number of Cadets in the top 3000 requested Reserve Duty or were obligated to Reserves or National Guard through GRFD Scholarships.

Once the dust settles from the OML being released the cadets will meet again with the PMS to see if they need to adjust their Branch wish list. Once they are finalized they will re-submit the wish list. Cadet Command will then assign branches based on their placement on the OML. The cadets should find out what they received somewhere around Oct. 23rd. Any Cadet in the top 10% of the OML will get their No. 1 choice.

Just heard some news from our son.

He found out this morning he was 364 out of 5643, 6.45% on the National OML .

Not quite sure what he will be on the Active Duty OML yet. PMS said 6.45% but I think he was using the national numbers. I guess he'll have to wait and find out for sure. Very proud of him no matter where he is on the AD OML.

Hope the news just keeps getting better and better for him:thumb:

Great news JCleppe!

I guess we need to wait to see how #364 changes relative to the AD cohort of ... what was it.. 2,900? Assuming it was 2,900, and that at least 74 cadets above him in the OML go Reserve Component, he could still be top 10% (290/2900) and get his first choice w/o using ADSO.

Couldn't follow your calculations, DunninLA. Good thing I don't have to take the SAT's again.

Anyway, Bravo to your son JCleppe. A great achievement through immense dedication.

Jcleppe,

364 translates to 322 on the AD OML. I'm not far behind at 417 Nationally and 371 on the AD OML.

dturne19 -- are you saying about 12% of the entire OML from 1 - 364 is going Reserve Component? How would anyone know that already? We know #1 is going RC per an above post ... but how do we know where #2-#364 on the entire OML are going at this time? Reason I ask is that I would have assumed about 20% - 25% of those ranked #1 - #364 would have RC as their first choice, or are already committed RC via their type of scholarship (i.e. GRFD, DEDNG or SMP).

dunninla,

I have the list of everyone that has AD. It shows 3110 for AD. It shows the cadet, their National OML, their AD OML (after AR, NG, GRFD, and I think nurses are pulled), as well as their AD %. Glancing down the list it has some gaps (ie 12...13...15...16...17...19...) to indicate those that have elected for RC.

Cool.... OK, great info, thanks for sharing. 3110 is the AD number then? Much higher than I would have predicted. Then now we know that of the top 364, about 88% are going AD, and 12% are not. Just surprises me a little that the % of RC is that small in the, shall we say, Overachievers Cohort. I wish for little JCleppe that he were top 10% of AD... makes things simpler, but being DMG I assume still gets him high enough to get his first or second choice of Branch and Detail.

Well if you look at the entire list of cadets, ~5640, it shows 3110 as AD. This suggests ~55% AD and ~45% RC. I suppose that people can still elect for RC? Not sure honestly as I've only been focused on AD and my branch of choice since I started.
