I was wondering if anyone knew what the stats were on cadets dropping out, or being kicked out, of ROTC after the OML is released. Is there an average number of how many tend to be removed after the fact and how does this affect everyone else on the list as far as things like branching and the AD line go? Does everyone below the dropped/kicked out person just move up one or is that spot left vacant?

That's an interesting question.

Last year at my son's school, a MS4 received a DUI after branching was complete. He went through a review board but eventually lost his remaining scholarship and the ability to commission, he has since enlisted. Obviously what you are asking happens each year, I am not sure if they move people up the AD list or not. I would imagine it would not effect branching since all the cadets would have already received their branches, they certainly would not go through that process again because a few cadet were gone.

I have heard of cadets that originally did not make the AD cutoff who later were able to go AD. I'm not sure how long after the OML release that happened. Last year they did add a few more AD after the initial OML came out.

Let us know if you find an answer.

That's pretty much what he's hoping for. My brother missed the AD line by only 100 cadets and is trying to find out if there is a possibility he could end up as AD later on. I'll admit that at first I was kind of glad he missed it because I want him to stay in the Guard with me, but I realized how selfish that is so I'm trying to get as much info for him as possible.

The best thing he can do is to keep in touch with his PMS and see if they add any to the AD list, Like I said it happened last year but of course that doesn't mean it will this year. I wish your brother the best of luck.

I was recently told by a buddy who was forced branched earlier this week that he can apply for active in ~3 years. Who knows if this is wishful thinking but that is the guidance he was getting. As for the AD line being moved down, it is certainly true it adjusts a bit due to people dropping out, getting DUIs or refusing commissions. However for the line to adjust by 100, I find that as a little bit of a stretch. Talked to HR a few times and they told me they have seen it shift 30-50 slots on average. But who knows every year is different and they CAN always add on for the AD list according to needs of the army......

Out of curiosity, how many slots were added to the AD list last year?

Haven't seen those numbers for last year. In the 2010 the original OMS score at the AD Cutoff line was 72.0038, it was later changed to 71.5996. How many cadets that included was not shown.

It thing Aglahad was pretty close in his estimates of the numbers but those could always change. Your brother just need to keep in touch with his PMS and I'm sure the PMS will let him know if the numbers shift in his favor.

What is the saying? The "squeaky wheel gets the grease?" Like Jcleepe said keep in contact with branch and cadre to see about openings.
