I have had the interview and submitted all the materials and it says so on the scholarship status website, but i logged in and it says I need to submit the medical too, to go to the review board. I was told this was only after you were awarded a scholarship you would have to go get a DoDMERB. I did not have to go get the medical for NROTC or AFROTC to get to the board. So I am a little confused and no one from army rotc seems to want to return any of my calls or emails so I am just a little curious of what I should do?

Keep calling the ROTC folks and perhaps also try calling Cadet Command? From their scholarship page:

Click here for the status of your scholarship application, or call (800) 750-7682 (option 5, option 2).

Call the ROO at your school of choice. Ask if you are board ready.

Last year a number of people posted here that they received a letter in around early March directing them to get their Army ROTC physical completed. Some of those letter recipients got a scholarship offer a couple of weeks later, and some did not. On balance I interpret that as a good sign.

Take Clarkson's advice -- find the Recruiting Officer, or even PMS, at the college you hope to attend, or the one nearest you, and ask them if they can help you.

We emailed the ROO @ my son's school of choice, and where he was interviewed, and he told us that he couldn't get into the application to see the status. That we should just be patient if everything was submitted, and wait. Well, all is submitted and received, with the exception of the DODMERB. I sure hope the info posted on these forums is correct, that the DODMERB is done only after the scholarship offer is made, even though it still is included in the list of requirements for the application. Is there any difinitive answer to the question of when these physicals are done? Thanks

Prior to last year they only listed that you have been selected for an interview, that statement never changed until you were awarded a scholarship. Last year they changed half way through the year to what you see now. Last year there were the same questions about the medical because it was shown as needing to be done. All those that had this message went before the boards as long as everything else was checked off. If your son is awarded a scholarship the first round he will get a letter from Dodmets telling him to schedule his appointments. I would not worry about the medical section on the status page.

My DS has been DoDMERB qualified since July for USNA, USMA & USAFA. He is also applying for AROTC. His AROTC application site still lists the medical as missing, but we were assured by Cadet Command that it is not needed until he receives (hopefully!) a scholarship offer. The rest of his application has been done and completed and even though the medical information is available to Cadet Command they will not update it until a scholarship offer is made. The absence of a medical "submitted" on the AROTC application status page will not hinder his application from being reviewed at the 1st or subsequent boards.

The medical isn't authorized for AROTC until the scholarship offer has been made.

It could save an awful lot of confusion for the applicants, to simply remove any reference to DODMERB on the application site. I used to work for the Dept. of Justice and I do understand how these things work though...

I agree with the objective of clarification. I think they need to mention it so:
1. Folks know its coming and
2. That the scholarship is dependant upon successfully getting through it.

But they ought to be clear its a step AFTER selection, not prior.

Not true for last year, who knows for this year.

Many applicants were sent dodmerb paperwork and completed physical prior to a scholarship being awarded, these were AROTC applicants that had not applied to any SA.

We'll have to wait and see how the handle it this year.

The first board meets on Oct. 17th and the cutoff for the application is next Monday the 10th. Where can I get the difinitive answer? I really want my son's application to be complete, and the DODMERB is the only item "not received".

You do not need DoDMERB to be reviewed by the board. My status says the same thing (not received) next to DoDMERB. I emailed Cadet Command asking if I was board ready and they said I was. So I don't think you need it for your application to be reviewed. Hope that helps.

Tonk is correct, you do not need the dodmerb complete to be ready for the board If the dodmerb is the only thing that is listed as needed then you are good to go.

If after the first board meets and your son does not receive a scholarship offer you may receive dodmerb paperwork in the mail, if you do just have your son follow the instructions and complete the physicals.

Again, this is NOT needed to be reviewed by the board. Last year some applicants received the dodmerb paperwork after the first board met even though they had not received a scholarship offer. Some of these applicants went on to receive a scholarship, some did not. It's a crazy ride, you just need to hold on tight.

Two questions along the "finishing application" theme:
1) When we click "Print Application" to generate the PDF version, my son's personal statement and additional information appear in all caps. Is that how it is for everyone?
2) The on-line application has his old, lower SAT scores, and when we try to update them with his higher numbers, it doesn't "stick" and keeps showing the lower ones. The PMS at the interview seemed to have the latest data (we had the scores reported directly to ROTC), but I'm frustrated we can't seem to update the application.

Does the choice of browser affect any of the above?

It stays in caps for the statement. I had the same issue with the scores for the ACT, but Cadet Command has my scores on file so I think its all set.

DS was board ready last October and was one the applicants sent the DoDMERB paper work to request he schedule the physicals(actual paper work will come from DoDMETS, I believe). Absolutely get the physicals scheduled ASAP but please DO NOT read anything into it. As Jcleppe mentioned, not all of these applicants ever received a scholarship offer. My DS and I, in hind site, put a lot of weight into the fact he had been sent for the physicals when ultimately he DID NOT receive an offer for AROTC scholarship.

The waiting and second guessing every blink of a computer screen at CC or DODMERB made many of us crazy(check the January and March board threads for examples of insanity at its finest:wink:). As difficult as the waiting is to bear, try to stay informed(hang out here, we're all ready to help you thru)but try to balance the computer stalking with a lot of great times do other things. The families that were able to achieve this more balanced approach did weather the chaos better. Either way, you have a lot of support waiting for you here:thumb:
