General Ramirez recently posted on this on his Facebook page. I don't "Facebook" but my wife does and she shared it with me. I am grateful that our Fish is in an institution that is, in fact, keeping things in perspective, and that by doing so our Fish and inded the whole TAMU Corps (and by extension, the other cadets at the SMC's and Maritime Academies and the Federal Service Academies) are embracing the timeless values of honor, loyalty, and service. Institutions and people sometimes fall short of those ideals - but to honor those ideals, to have standards and goals that they strive to achieve is a very important part of the maturation process of these cadets.

"Texas A&M Corps of Cadets
Commandant: So Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are getting divorced after 72 days and its at the forefront of all our news media. How about THIS for a headline, CNN, FOX, and MSNBC: "LTC David Cabrera, US Army, and Texas A&M Class of '92, was killed this past weekend in Kabul, Afghanistan, along with 12 other Americans. He leaves behind a wife and 2 children. He was part of the less than 1% of Americans who are serving our nation in our military today during time of war." I realize its not as sensational as wondering what Kim is going to do with her 50 carat diamond ring, but in MY humble opinion, its 50 times more important."

Best Wishes to all for Thanksgiving and upcoming Holiday Season.

The fact that our media focuses on the celebrity bs is disappointing. What is more disappointing is that the American people want to hear about the celebrity bs rather than something that truely is important and "news worthy".
