Can anyone tell me what to expect at a USMA admission event hosted by USMA? what typically goes on? Should I bring my resume? Will khakis, button down and tie suffice?

At an admissions event (not a Service Academy day), the ones that I have been to will have a presentation with a powerpoint made by an USMA admissions representative. Could be a MALO, FFR, admissions rep from West Point or the Regional Commander himself.
Just a basic overview of admissions and West Point with a Q&A afterwards. Ours have had the local MALOs/FFRs in attendance also which gives you the opportunity to connect with your MALO/FFR if you haven't already. West Point literature is there for the taking.
No resume needed. Dress is nice casual. A tie would be overkill. Khakis and polo or buttondown is fine.

There is a section in the admissions website where admissions events are posted.

Appears that there is a glitch, but when you clicke the admissions tab, there is a tab for "events in your area."

My son and I have been to two of these events. I would echo everything buff81 says, and add a couple of things which may be unique to our area (Michigan):

-ROTC was also presented at our events, with both cadets and cadre present to promote the program and answer questions

-at the fall one we attended, applicants in their senior year were also invited to do a brief interview with an admissions rep from West Point. I don't believe these were scheduled in advance. In my opinion it would be good to be mentally prepared for this possibility, and to have a resume just in case

These events were very positive and inspirational. Not a lot of new information, but worthwhile nonetheless.

were also invited to do a brief interview with an admissions rep from West Point.

Participation in admissions events & academy day's gave my son several opportunities to speak 1:1 at length with admissions reps, with detailed discussion of CV, etc. Including many interview type dialogs.

This was true for both USMA and USNA.

These interactions seem to have directly led to SLS/NASS offers, etc. (we know for a fact the NASS offer was due to one of these interactions)

He also got to talk with Firsties 1:1, which certainly helped influence him.

This may vary by region, and even event. But it's an opportunity well worth a couple of hours of travel. You won't get many other opportunities like these outside of campus visits.
