I've received an LOA from USNA. An NJROTC nomination form, competed by my Senior Naval Science Instructor, has also been mailed to the Nominations and Appointments Office.

Will my Candidate Information page be updated when USNA processes my NJROTC nomination? It's a few weeks since I've mailed the forms and my page has not shown any nominations. Should I ask for another copy of the recommendation letter and resend the documents?

Is an NJROTC nomination enough to fulfill the nomination requirement of the LOA and lead to an appointment as soon as it is processed? Or will I still need to wait for nominations from my Congressman and Senators?

JROTC Nomination

How can you have an JROTC Nomination and the Applications arent due yet? Just wondering . I have heard of many already getting nominations from several states already. Congrats.

Give it another week or so and then call your RD.

A candidate with an LOA must of course receive a nomination from which an appointment can legally be made. Only 20 appointments annually can be made from ROTC, both Junior and Senior. They are required by law to be by order of merit. If you feel you are one of these 20 candidates, great. However, you probably will still cause the Admissions Dept a great deal of consternation. The note in the catalog to apply to all nominations eligible still applies.

I've applied for all of the nominations for which I am eligible, of course.

I was just curious. Thank you for the information.

I've emailed my admissions counselor. He has yet to respond, but I imagine everyone up there is going to be swamped for a while.

Mongo,
can you please explain how the order of merit is determined? Does admissions wait to review first semester college grades?
Thank you!

I think the law itself uses the term "order of merit". The Academies comply by compiling a WCS/WPM score. Same thing. USNA Admissions will look at the first semester college scores (and compile them into the WPM).

Are NROTC college applicants only evaluated on their GPA for college course work or are high school grades and GPA evaluated in conjunction?
