I'll put it out there, especially to folks like Luigi and Line In The Sand - why can't we do something like this (THUDGATE) the next time USCGA and USMMA meet for a football game - http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=22596

I just really feel with this upcoming budget cycle and the resultant ripples from the "super-committee" outcomes, it's will be more important than ever for "us" service academy forum stakeholders - current mids/cadets, alums, parents, and other friends/supporters to find collegial ways and forums to "stick together" and share good karma, etc. I saw this thread over at the USAFA Forum and realized just how far our rivalry is from that of the rivalries between USAFA, USMA, and USNA.

Chat with ChristCorp about this...

It's put together originally by a HS classmate of mine...and a LOT of folks that show up, bringing food, etc. And they NEVER ask for money; but they'll take anything you'll donate.

And it "appears" that it works! I've been to Thudgate several times now and they're ALWAYS packed with folks from BOTH teams, LOTS of great munchies, drinks, etc. And the donation buckets: always full!

I don't see why this can't work, unless some power thinks its not within regulations. Let me do some sleuthing. I think this can work!Especially with all the  out there. We can always use the:spacecraft: to suck away the :argue1:, :rant2:, and:thumbdown:

if Land Hall and the surrounding area is available this could work---problem is you need a large area that is not marked for a reunion class to use

that sounds wonderful!! Maybe we can work through the Parents and Alumni pages to get something going. Count me IN!!!

Skip involving anyone other than those whose approval is needed. Otherwise it will just be mired in red tape and MARAD oversight...boo!

When/If it gets big enough then maybe I'd consider involving some people who could provide needed support.

CGA Alumni Association sponsored the CGA tailgate at KP this year - they sold the tickets and collected the money, I'm pretty sure all of it was done through their web site. Those not buying tickets for the "official" one were seen with card tables and folding chairs in the parking lot next to Jones(?) Hall.

Next year's game is at USCGA - other than the Alumni Center parking area (who tailgate every game) or the lots next to Johnson Hall or Leamy Hall, there's not a lot of room.

The CPO's Association sponsors the concession tables between McAllister Hall and the stadium, so that's out, the hamburgers/hotdogs/pretzels/drinks they sell provide them with revenue, so I'm not too sure they would be happy to see anything close to them.

Maybe something down by the waterfront?
