Okay so I'm attending th candidate visit weekendor Dec 1-Dec3, and I was wondering what types of clothes w/jacket should be appropriate for those days? (Keep in mind I'm from Houston, Texas) Also would we have to bring our own bedding?

I will be there too- not too sure on what to bring either.

You must check the weather ahead of time. from what I heard, it snowed/winter precipitation mix at the last CVW in October.

As stated check the weather. Best bet: bring somehing that will be very, very warm for outdoor activities. Best possibility it will be in the forty's worst will be thirty's or below. With wind off the water it can be brutal for those not used to it. I think bedding will be provided (cot in a room). We didn't bring any for February CVW.

Yes you do need to bring bedding- sleeping bag or blanket and pillow- cot is provided and according to DS who attended in Oct, very unfortable and small (he is 6'3") Also dress nice- colored shirts seemed to be what many wore. DS said the plebes made fun of the candidates with letterman jackets on or decked out in usna gear. We saw some candidates in sweats and they stood out. Also send cookies and treats with Ds and they were very appreciated by the plebes!

just come with dressy-casual attire. Maybe khakis. Jeans are "ok," but remember you aren't visiting a regular college. Honestly, it's not a big deal because the officers don't evaluate you; your plebe that you stay with does and they almost always just give you the highest score (it's what I do if I think they have a shot). Just don't be that guy who looks like a.. well... tool. Definitely don't wear your letterman jacket. And bring your workout gear because you might get thrown into morning workouts.

How bad/tough are morning PT workouts?
I heard that all male plebes in a certain company run under 20 minutes for 5k. I would be a real drag in that case.

I'm sure it varies by company, but at the October one, Friday was their core workout day. We did a TON of various abdominal exercises and push ups. We were inside but they were told to start wearing under armour stuff because they were going to start going outside. But we saw other companies running and other things too so it really depends.
And don't freak out if they haven't assigned you to anyone, it'll work out. Especially since they'll probably try to be better about that this time around! have fun and ask questions!!! and realize that it still isn't real life because they get to "cheat" since you are there with them haha.

I'm from New England and today was pretty darn cold. So dress warm, maybe a nice sweater (don't be geeky though). I agree with the letterman and usna gear comments - don't be that guy. bring sheets and a pillow or a sleeping bag. You'll prob want sweats for workouts and such. I would also suggest bringing some money - plebes are encouraged to bring candidates to the mid store.

Similar question to what is posted here: my ds is going to usna for an official visit (rowing) Thursday and wondering what to wear / bring.
