AROTC and USMA

My son informed his MALO that he had received a 4 year AROTC scholarship and the MALO passed this info on to his Regional Commander who said it does not affect your WP score but West Point likes to know this information. If WP likes to know, any idea if it helps or hurts ones chances of receiving an appointment?

Packer, I don't think it helps or hurts with respect to USMA. USMA is on a separate track. That said, if your DS received a 4-year AROTC scholarship, he is likely a strong candidate for USMA consideration.

Thanks he was pretty happy to receive it. I was under the impression that it would not help or hurt but thought it was curious that the RC said WP likes to know.
