So I just got back from my DODMERB eye exam. 20/20+2 in my right eye (uncorrected), and 20/30 (corrected) in my left eye. Exactly what I expected so now what? Also, out of the 9 circles for depth perception, I only got past number 6. I expect this to be a DQ, but I dont know for sure, and its killing me not knowing, anyone out there have an idea?

and please no comments about not being able to be a pilot, I've accepted that. Can I do other jobs?

If they do DQ you will immediately be placed in the waiver process. DoDMerb dq's and the branch decides if they will grant a waiver. In your case it will be the AF.

Of course there are many jobs in the AF that if granted a waiver you are eligible for in the AD world. Think of the AF like an airline. Not everyone is a pilot, and there are many jobs that support them...maintenance, personnel, accounting and finance, public affairs, intel, police, legal, weather, etc.

If you see the AF as a fortune 500 company like South West, you will see there are many options.

Good luck

Thanks. I sent an email to the DODMERB help desk, the link that Mullen posted. I definitely recommend that people make use of it, the person who replied to me was very helpful. It sounds like I have nothing to worry about, except it will limit what jobs I can do, but its better than no Air Force at all.

Make use of it DODMERB fearing people like myself

My son got 3 of 9 and qualified. He does want to be a pilot ( and is a private pilot) so he was really concerned about how few he got. After he got qualified we took him to our family Opthamologist and he got 12 of 12. I don't know if it was nerves during the DODMERB or unfamiliarity with the exam but it was a relief to him to know he was fine. Best of luck to you!

No reason to fret, medical status is: Qualified. Guess I just psyched myself out. Thanks for everyone's input. :thumb:
