I can't find any information on whether when applying to NROTC I need to take a Physical Fitness Assessment like for AFROTC. I read somewhere that you only need to take it if you're going into the marines but I still can't find any forms/info on that.

Please let me know. Thanks!

Any PFA is normally done immediately following the interview. I can confirm its required for marine option. Don't know about navy but find it hard to believe there wouldn't be one.of course it is different than the test given for marine option candidates.

For NROTC last year at least you didn't take one at all. I've read on the forums that for the Marine Option you have to take one but don't have the details on it. A quick search can find you the standards for the Navy PFT at least for comparison - in my son's NROTC unit they need to score at "Good Medium" in all categories to not be on probation or eventually lose the scholarship.

My DD has completed her NROTC application and she did not have to do a CFA. According to NETC in Pensacola the CFA doesn't have to be passed until the end of the first semester.

Marine PFT can be found online. It's
pullups - perfect score is 20 and is untimed
crunches - 2 minutes and 100 crunches is perfect score
3 mile run - perfect score is 18 minutes

My son just took/passed his first real one this morning (at 6am on the day back from Thanksgiving! ). They've done practice ones but were told this was the one that counted to keep scholarships, figure into the rankings, etc.

DD is a freshman on NROTC scholarship (Navy Option). Like the others that have already responded, she did not have to do any kind of physical fitness test until after she reported in August. They are simply expected to show up in shape. According to DD, almost everyone passed :)
