Good evening, I am newly registered here but I have viewed these forums for quite some time and I would like to thank you all for the wealth of information that is provided here, it has been a tremendous help. I have a request for guidance, I received two letters in the mail today from my MOC. The first one stated that I am the principal nominee to USAFA and the second stated I am the alternate to the principal nominee for USNA. For a very long time my heart and desire has been set on going to USNA. My biggest fear is that my senators as well as USNA will see that I have the principal to USAFA and "write me off" for their USNA nom and from the academy's perspective, an appointment. I would just like some guidance as to what I should do to communicate as clearly as possible to both my senators as well as USNA that I have a very strong desire to attend the Naval Academy, I just want them to be clear as to what my intentions are so that my chances of Appointment aren't harmed. I also don't want to come across wrong, I am very humbled and excited to have the principal to USAFA and it is definitely at the top of my list, second only to Annapolis. Once again, thank you very much.

Congratulations! I wish I had a principal nom to a SA. :thumb: Good luck!

Well, did your nomination sources allow you to rank your academy preference?

I'd say whatever you determine to do, the manner in which you communicate will serve to ensure your recipients of your fine attitude and desires. Good luck.

The bottom line is that you have the necessary nomination to both academies.

If somebody thought highly enough of your credentials to make you their principal nominee (even though it's for USAFA), my guess is that you have an excellent chance of receiving an appointment from the Naval Academy despite the fact that you are not a principal nominee.

If you are triple-Q'd and have a nomination to USNA - I predict something very good is going to happen for you in the near future.

Remember, many of the appointments come from those who are not principal nominees.

Yes, my senators as well as my congresswoman allowed us to rank preferneces and I put USNA as #1 and USAFA as #2.

That is excellent to hear! Thank you once again for your help and kind words!

You know, it is possible that whoever assisted your MOC in this process forgot that you had prioritized USNA over USAFA... or it is possible that another candidate to the USNA has a prior relationship with the MOC. In any case, it is worth a call to the MOC's office to confirm that they are aware that USNA is your first priority.
