Has anyone heard from any of the nominating sources in Virginia yet? I know that Senator Warner has sent out his letters but have not heard from anyone else. I'm particularly curious about Congressman Wittman.

I am curious about Congressman Forbes XD

I heard from one person he should send his out mid-december... So I've been stalking my mailbox since the 3rd......

We were told that Congressman Wittman's SAAB finished the interviews last weekend and were in the process of preparing their recommendation list for submission to him this week. Having gone through this last year, Congressman Wittman announced his nominees before Christmas but Senator Webb did not announce his until late January. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much! That is a big help! Hopefully we'll hear soon.

Does anyone know when Congressman Wolf will be submitting his nominations?

Is you child applying again this year?

[Is you child applying again this year?

My son applied last year and got the dreaded Qualifed No Vacancy letter from AFA in early April. He then moved on to plan B to do AFROTC at VT to study mechanical engineering. In mid May, he received a Falcon Foundation Scholarship from AFA to do a prep year at the New Mexico Military Institute.

As long as he satisfies the requirements of the scholarship, e.g. no grades below a C, pass the CFA again and secure a nomination, he is pretty much guaranteed an appointment to the 2016 AFA class. He is on his way home from NM now. Got all A's this semester, maxed the CFA and we just found out this afternoon that he got another nomination from Congressman Wittman.

Where are you hoping to get a nomination to?

Well, my son is hoping to go to the AFA. We did not get anything in the mail from Witman's office today and he got a no from Warner. Even if he gets a yes from Wittman at this point, his charge is going to your son, right? I'm not feeling very good about it at this point. :(. Converts to your son! I'm sure he's very excited!

My son might not be charged to Wittman. He already has a Presidential nomination because of my retired status. Congressman Wittman's office notifies his nominees by email first and then follows up with a formal letter on Congressional stationery. My understanding regarding Senator Webb is that he waits to see who the nominees are from Warner and the 11 Congressmen before announcing his slate in late January. Good luck to your son.

He checked his email and had a nomination from Congressman Wittman! He's very excited! Maybe our boys will get a chance to meet at some point. Thanks so much for the information. Have a great visit with your son while he's home.

That is outstanding news!! Congratulations.

We met a lot of last years nominees and their parents at the reception Congressman Wittman hosted at Joe and Mimma's in Grafton. There were quite a few kids not there because they were either at the prep schools or were AOG sponsored preps like my son is this year. I think that says a lot about how competitive our state and district is so it really is an accomplishment to get a nomination from the VA congressional delegation. Good luck on the appointment.

MOCs have until Jan. 31 to submit their slates to the SAs. Some do it right after making their selections; others may notify candidates right away but not notify the SAs until the deadline. It's entirely up to the MOCs.

It's also up to the MOCs when they notify you.

For principal nominees, USNA at least will typically send your offer of appointment (assuming you're 3Q'ed) a couple of weeks after THEY are notified of the noms by the MOC. Note that this could be some time after you are notified by the MOC.

If you're not a principal nominee, you might hear very soon or you might be waiting until April. There's really no way to predict which will happen.

Just checked by West Point portal, I received a nomination from Congressman Wolf VA10:biggrin:

As of today, I have nominations from both Congressman Forbes (VA-04) and who I assume is Senator Webb (VA-61) to West Point

In addition to my LoA and DoDMERB, I am now waiting on my appointment letter!!!!!!
