I recieved my appt. to USMMA today. Recieved a call from Congressman Tim Murphy on the 28th and recieved the official letter the 29th. Wondering if anyone else has received the same.

P.S. To my future shipmates Congrats!

Congrats! Bubble wrap to protect yourself from injury is a must. And DS says calculus is a must before you get there. He couldn't get in the high school class but used a tutor on his own time (and dime). It was well worth it early on.

Congrats! I was recently informed of the same. I received the BFE on the 23rd of december, after an LOA in late november. My congressman just called me today (Mike Coffman, CO 6).

Congrats everyone. My DS received LOA in October, nomination from PA senator last week, and BFE yesterday! We are thrilled for him.

Congratulations to all new appointees! It seems like just yesterday that our ds was an appointee. Welcome to the family.

I was looking at Indoc photos this morning. Even though it seems so recent, I look at how far they've come - sea year finished, now looking at where they go after KP. Congrats, class of 2016!:thumb:

Yes, and so far ds has restrained himself quite appropriately by NOT going for the $30,000 + loan!

Same here - although it has been discussed. Last year there was talk of a car, but now he seems more inclined to stick with the 10 year old car he inherited from me. Now he's talking about investments. And that comes as a result of the Economics class that apparently is the bane of the mids' existence.

Tell ds to keep on studying for Econ. There's studying and tutoring to be done, as it's available in any Academy or college. Mids and Plebes and Plebe Candidates just have to make a decision to focus on the steps to get to their end goal. Congrats again to all the newbies.Making it through any Academy is about focus, focus, focus. And refocusing. KP is a great place to be from. It might be one of the "easier" to get into, and I am saying that very lightly, but is BY FAR the hardest to graduate from.

Congrats everyone! I hope to see all of you there. I received my LOA in October and then a nomination from my congressman and from my senator in November.

Awesome news!!!

dwire55 and Mom-in-PA,

:jump1: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Might I recommend attending the Spring Open House for New Appointees. It should be held sometime in April. You will get a letter about it in the near future- but you can even call the school to find out when it is, so you can book hotel/ air (if you need it). (don't stay in queens btw... defnitely try to stay in Great Neck or out further past Great Neck) I DEFINITELY recommend taking your child to this Open House- it's a great thing to do- and you will learn soOOOOooOOO much valuable information.

Congrats again!!!! :thumb:

Aooga, Hehehehehe. You called them:shake: "child". Ah come on, they are not children anymore. :thumb: just in case you have felt like you have not been jumped on in a while on the forum. Consider yourself jumped on! I couldn't help myself!

Open House for 2016 Appointees

dwire55 and Mom-in-PA and bluesand17,

I found my regimental calendar and it says that the Admissions Open House for 2016 Appointees is MONDAY, APRIL 9th. I definitely recommend going to this. Some parents/appointees drove in but we had to fly in (too far from NY to drive) and we made our reservations early as local hotels fill up for the Open House. As far as hotels, I personally like the Inn at Great Neck. It's very nice and safe and only about 11-12 minutes from the Academy. There are other nice hotels that are a little cheaper- just make sure NOT to stay in Queens... we did that on our first trip out and will never make that mistake again! Like I said before, the info you will learn at the Open House is HUGE and when we took our DS (yes, Lynpar, my dear, my CHILD) both he and hubby and myself found it to be invaluable. They'll provide a nice catored meal, have information sessions for parents as well as for the incoming students. You will take a tour of the campus...will meet other kids from around the country that will be in the 2016 class (and their parents). All in all it will get you excited and you will gain information that will make getting ready for INDOC go much smoother. Best of luck to you and congrats again. >> Cherish the remainder of the school year- July will be here before you know it! <<
