Hi everyone! Happy new year! I just got a call from my admissions counselor at Norwich and he informed me that I have been accepted! Thanks to all and any help you guys have given me ! Im so happy. I have dreamed since freshmen year of high school to be given the chance to go there, or Texas A&M and feel so blessed I have the opportunity now.

Now Im just waiting to hear from A&M.

But now that Ive been accepted to Norwich, is there anything about the school I should know?
Why should I go to Norwich over A&M? If any of you are graduates there or have had family/friends who went there and did the corps how was the experience?

Thanks again everyone!

Congratulations, fantastic news for you! Way to start off the New Year. Best wishes to you wherever your destiny takes you.

Congrats! If you haven't yet visited both Norwich and A&M, you should plan on doing so asap. Vastly different institutions. A visit is very important to sort out the differences.

Congrats to you, it is a fine school. I suggest you try to overnight with the Corp. Contact admissions. When you are there talk to the cadets, get their take on the school. My son has loved Norwich and still does. My son got a lot of info from the overnight. His experience since has met his expectations from the overnight. My son has gained a great deal from Norwich. It is a very forward looking school. There is a great family atmosphere to the school.

With regard to my son at Norwich. As a rook (freshman cadet) you are restricted in what you can do, Except; You can make a lot of friends. You will learn there is more to the world then yourself (My son recently told me that) You can use the restricted time as a rook to start with a great GPA. (The first semestor grades are really important no matter where you go to school. It makes your later semestors that much easier.) Participate in all clubs that you can. Be involved and volunteer for all ROTC duties. Really enjoy this time of your life because in the blink of an eye you will be an old slacker like me.

I know you will do well

Best of luck

I second the recommendation for doing an overnight. It will definitely give you a feel for what your rook year will be like. Sooner is probably better.

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words! I have visited both A&M and Norwich. I had a fantastic time at both universities. I do have to admit, I have my heart set on A&M, it just felt like home there ; Aggieland is a special place.
But thats not to say that I don't want to go to Norwich, or that Im not completely grateful to be accepted, because I am. I only applied to two schools,I went against all advice really and put all my eggs into two baskets, no back ups. In retrospect that was reckless and irresponsible, but on the other hand I really only wanted to go to either Norwich or A&M.

So I really am truly grateful to be accepted to this very respected institution, it was after all my number 2 school  ,and would be honored to attend school there, I just felt that A&M was the right fit for me; I really loved it there, I truly did.

Congratulations on being admitted to Norwich!!! You will absolutely love it there!!!

It is a great school... You might want to ask for some skiing equipment for after Rook year. It is a beautiful area. Congrats!!

Haha thank you bjkuds! Unfortunatly I don't do many winter sports, I think I'll have to start though

I also go my "official" letter of acceptance to the school and corps of cadets today in the mail, Yesterday it was just a friendly phone call from my admissions counselor.

Thanks again everyone

They only winter sport that matters the first year is push ups in the snow:yllol: That looked like tremendous fun. Seriously..we talked to the ECE professors at length while we were there and they were absolutely top notch people. The facilities were state of the art and everyone was very friendly. We talked to the people in town as well and the respect level that they had for the Cadets at Norwich was amazing. You have good reason to be proud.

Congratulations. :thumb: I knew some kids that went there and they said it was a great school.
