Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy some 2012 SAT books for studying and was wondering which ones you all recommend. I've been searching google but haven't been able to find any help, because a certain book will have good reviews on one site and bad reviews on another.

Anyway I'm looking to get 2 SAT books 2012 edition so if you can tell me which book you think is good and why that would help me out a lot. thanks

review books

I researched this one for some extra math problems and got my daughter:
Math Study Guide for the SAT, ACT and SAT Subject Tests: 2012 Edition by Richard Corn (amazon)
My daughter really likes this book and other reviews were positive.

Also,The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition by the College Board (from the SAT people themselves) .

Both on Amazon at good price.

You can't go wrong with the "Big Blue Book" SAT from college board. the 2012 and 2011 editions aren't so different, so either one works. Helped me get a great grade :thumb:

I found the best way to study was to do a full length practice test and go over my mistakes. In this respect, the book doesn't matter as long as it has full length tests. Don't forget that your local library has tons of SAT books and the year doesn't matter either as long as it's after 2005, when the test was last changed.

But to name a specific book, The Official SAT Study Guide (the big blue one ;) ) is great because it has 10 full length tests. There also is a Collegeboard online course you can subscribe to that contains an additional 10 tests and the ability to input answers (MC and essay) from the online tests and official study guide book for the computer to grade.

Here are my votes for SAT prep. My DS used both. The "Big Blue Book" is great for practice exams but doesn't do an effective job of covering test taking strategies which are critical to getting that maximum score on the SAT.

1. The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition
2. Cracking the SAT, 2012 Edition (College Test Preparation)

Included are links to Amazon.com. I was reading last week that there are other places to buy books. Who knew?

Thanks for your responses, I think I'm going to go with the 'Blue Book' because its from the college board, but I was just wondering, is there any difference between the first edition published in 2005 and the second one published in 2009? Thanks

DS used "eknowledge" SAT/ACT program. He was more apt to use the computer than a book. It offers practice tests as well other items. If you are from a military background or have scouting in your past/present there are great discounts, there are other discounts available, but those are the ones that come to mind. My son raised his score almost 300 points on the SAT. He super scored a 2000 on the SAT (all three sections) 700 Math, and 670 CR, 630 writing.

smart phone

also, if you have a smart phone there is a free college board app that provides a question of the day. you can also do that online
