How long should it take for a nomination to appear in the CIS? I received a congressional nomination two weeks ago in the mail, but the CIS still claims I haven't received any...
On the other hand, my Son's nomination showed up in CIS 1 1/2 months before he received a letter from the MOC.
Similar situation here -- portal shows nom received 12-28 but no MOC notification yet...
This is what the portal said:
Nomination Source; State; District; Date Received
Congress/Senator 2; IL; 28-DEC-2011
Not sure what the "2" means (two Senators for the state?), and the "district" box was left blank.
"1" or "2" will be a nomination from one of your senators. If I remember, "1" will be the senior (longer serving) senator and "2" will be the junior senator.
Just checked the screenshot DS printed of his information last year. His senatorial nomination was listed as "Congress/Senator 2 TX" for the junior senator from Texas. The congressional nomination was listed as Congress/Representative TX 04 for Congressman Hall.

navy2016....It could be different in different states, or maybe it changed. We got our information about "1" for senior senator and "2" for junior senator from a previous thread on this forum.
craeder.....congrats to your DS! You can always call the Senator's office and ask. Maybe the nom letter is lost in the mail? They are all worth keeping, but some are very nice. Senator Hutchison's was a very formal document that could easily have been framed. Luckily her staff sent it to my son prior to asking if he could give back her nom since he already had two!
