NROTC Interviews

I have had THREE NROTC Officer Interviews so far. The first one was at the time I submitted my application in the middle of May 2011 (end of my junior year). I thought it went pretty well.
In the middle of December, I got a call to come in for a second interview. That interview was with a different Officer at a different site. I thought that went pretty well too.
Last Friday, the NROTC called my school and wanted to speak to me. They wanted me to have an interview within the hour with yet another Officer and yet another site! I missed the last period in school to go to this. I am hoping this is good because it seems like they are taking a serious interest in me:thumb:. Or is it a case of paperwork mess up:thumbdown:?

Not to be obvious, but did the person who called you to schedule the 2nd and 3rd interviews know about the 1st and 2nd? Did you ask? I don't think I've read on this Board, over the past 18 months, a report of anyone having multiple interviews.

I agree with dunninla. Perhaps she wasn't so obvious, but it was my takeaway from her comment.

There is no way to answer your question without you asking them. It could be a paperwork/computer screw up, it could be they are extremely interested in you, or it could be you're on the cusp or something. It could also be that what you thought was a formal interview was just a chat, especially the first interview? Or perhaps one of the "interviews" was with with one of your college cadre's just wanting to get to know you? I too have never heard of multiple interviews at their request.

You need to ask them. No one on this board can answer that.

Well, the day before the December interview, an Officer from the recruiting station I had my first interview at called my house, during school. My Mom was home and the Officer left a message with her saying I needed to come in for a second interview because Pensacola had just called him and said they needed more information than what they had received from the first interview. The message also said that my original contact person at the recruiting station was no longer there. So when I called the Officer back that afternoon, I was told to come in as soon as possible, which was the next day. The 2nd interview was with a different Officer at a different site from the first one. After that 2nd interview, the next day, I made a follow up phone call to the Officer to thank him and ask if he knew when the next Board was. He told me he was submitting the interview results right then. Then in early January I received acceptance to my #1 school for the Tier 1 major so last week I e-mailed Officer #2 to tell him the good news. I got an "out of the office until January 27" message. The next day (last Friday) is when a Petty Officer from the very first place I interviewed at back in May called the front office at my school to have me go to yet a 3rd place to have a 3rd Officer interview before the school day ended. I don't want to blame anybody for anything, but then I don't want to get lost in a paperwork mix up that I had nothing to do with - so that's why I make those phone calls and send those follow up e-mails. I've learned so much from this NROTC journey and from the application/interview process for USNA, USAFA, AFROTC, AROTC, and the 3 nomination sources, and the 6 colleges, and DoDMERB. None of it has been easy, but then nothing worthwhile ever is!

Thanks for the expansion. It certainly explains the second interview. I'm still scratching my head about the third. I'm expect someone was monitoring his email (or perhaps it was purely coincidence). I'm still in the same place though and can't tell you the reason for the third. Glad you're looking on this positively. I understand your concerns about the process. I always wondered if DS's application was updated properly with new info last year as there was no way to tell. Hang in there. :thumb:

This sounds like something that is definitely worth some follow up. Besides contacting your local recruiter, it would be worthwhile to contact NETC in Pensacola to find out what might be going on. The number used when my son had a paperwork foul up was 850-452-9419. Good luck!
