Summer 2012 USNA STEM

Does anyone know the selection process for summer STEM? Do they go by demographics or state? Are they looking for minorities? Any knowledge would be appreciated.
 
I think that STEM focuses mostly on minority and demographic priorities. For instance, if you were from Maryland and had the same stats as someone from Iowa, the Iowa person would most likely be chosen. Don't quote me on that though.

Based on the people I have met there, that actually made sense.

We had at several people from those remote states (Alaska, Wyoming, North Dakota).

Texans represented the largest group by state.
