Hey everyone,

Regarding the forms on the Information for Candidates Offered Admission, can we start working on them and mailing them in now or should we wait?

Thanks!

Not that I really know the answer to this - but I'm always amazed at this type of question (no disrespect intended). Why in the world would you think you should wait? What terrible thing would happen if you filled them out and mailed them back next week? (Not to imply how long I think it should take as I have no idea). Good Luck and Congratualtoins! :thumb:

Hahah no worries I get why you would want to ask that. It just mentioned several times that there would be mailers with these forms in them but, then again, the forms are also in the pdf itself. So it just raises the question....

My cadet started working on the forms as soon as he could because he was very busy with school and other things and had to work on them in his free time. I know it's long but print that pdf and staple it together. You will refer to this information time and time again. Highlight dates and other important instructions. You might need to schedule a dentist appointment for current x-rays, you will need a second polio shot, etc., so familiarize yourself with what has to be done and when.

The gray envelopes are very useful and my cadet used them all. West Point even sent him some more when he asked. However, not everything can be mailed in the gray envelopes (I think something went to a different address) so make sure you are clear on that.

I was also confused, because it said that USMA would provide envelopes, especially for the xray. I'm just gonna start filling them out, but wait a week before sending anything in.

I was just going to wait until more instructions, or envelopes were sent. Not that I am procrastinating, or putting it off but I feel as though we have a lot of time and there is no need to rush. Besides my printing limit at school is 11 pages at a time and I cannot split the pdf up to print it in 3 seperate sections. I may just have to go to the library.

DS printed and read through Instructions. DS asked to get started on scheduling Dr. appointment for vaccinations and lab tests. I agreed b/c it may take time to schedule and then get results back. DS also looked into Police background check and fingerprinting. We live a a large city and found out he just can't walk into a Police Station/Precinct and there is another Police Annex that processes these requests including the need to pay with Money Order or Cashiers Check. That was good info and saved time.

DS said he did not want to wait to get going and it does look like it will take some time to complete some of the items in the Instructions packet.

...just thought it would be good to share some findings so far on Instructions packet...

You have plenty of time other than checking off your on-line acceptance. You will receive a large envelope for x-rays. Keep copies of everything and bring with you to RDAY. Good luck!

Ok, we received the grey envelopes but we have not received any forms...It sounds as if everyone else here received forms in the mail.
Is DS supposed to ask for the forms?

You get a batch of envelopes early. The forms for the most part are in the PDF mentioned in other posts, are are now handled by web response on the portal.

Hang on the envelopes as you may need them, it just makes it easy to get routed to the right place.

There really is just so much to get done, so I would personally advise starting getting it done ASAP. I remember this time last year doing all this stuff, and especially at the end of senior year you're very, very busy.

Congrats!

Question?
I logged into my portal today and I noticed that there is a little blurb on the side that said "ACCEPTED CL2016 candidates: please check your portal for the 1st admissible mailing"

Does this mean anything or is it a friendly reminder for those who have been accepted?

Yes. You need to check it. The first admissable mailing is about the boots you need to get. There are already a couple threads on this in the forum.

Do not interpret that message to mean that you have been accepted.

This happened to my DS 3 years ago- except that we got the 1st Admissible in the mail. We too thought that it meant that he had been accepted and after a few frantic phone calls - found out that that was sent to all who had been accepted and to those with LOAs who had not been accepted yet ( DS was waiting on a 2 medical waivers).

So - while you MAY have been accepted and have not yet been notified - it does not necessarily mean that you have been.

Contact your FFR or RC and tell them that that appeared on your portal and see what they say.

Fingers crossed!

Not to be demeaning, but I think its just a general reminder. It appears right above the blurb about requiring writing scores for SATs/ACTs, in the "Home" part of the portal. And I believe mine popped up over the weekend, which I feel is awkward timing based on admissions schedules.

Believe me, I'm just as anxious. :wink:

@buff81

thanks for the input. I emailed my RC a few minuets ago and will be waiting for the reply. Definetly have fingers crossed right now.

@Kinnem

So you are saying that I got accepted????

Right. You need to follow what Dixieland and Buff91 said. I certainly did not mean to imply you were accepted, only what the contents were based on the other threads. For all I know it could be showing up on everyone's portal.
