I've read plenty on the forum about don't look into your DoDMERB packet if you have received it. I received mine some time last week, just after the January AROTC Board. They made me schedule my appts in Bryan-College Station, TX which so happens to be where I have accepted admission to Texas A&M, and the PMS over at TAMU said that they had put my name in (the PMS at TAMU is actually on the AROTC board and has attended the past boards yhis year in Kentucky) stating that TAMU wanted me to receive an AROTC scholarship to their school. They already know I plan to be a part of the Corps anyway, regardless of scholarship receival, though it would be wonderful to get one. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, why would I receive a DoDMERB packet and have to get sent all the way up to College Station (I live about two hours away) so early? No I haven't received a scholarship yet. Thank you!

When you filled out your application you listed schools that you would attend if you received a scholarship. Each of those schools looked at your application as well as those of every applicant that listed their school. The PMS at each school has a list of the names of theses applicants, after reviewing each application the PMS has the option of checking the Yes box next to your name, they also check whether they would use one of their 4 or 3 year option slots. It is possible that every school you listed put a check in the yes box or just a couple. The fact that the PMS at TAMU checked the yes box does not mean that you will receive the National ROTC Scholarship, it means that if you are selected TAMU would like to be listed as one of your options, in the end it is up to Cadet Command.

As far as Dodmerb, they give you an appointment at the closest Dodmerb contracted clinic for the exam, College Station may have been the closest location to you. Last year Dodmerb packets were sent out to many cadets after the first board, some received scholarships, some did not. The main thing to remember is that receiving the Dodmerb packet does not mean a scholarship offer is coming. Best advice is to go ahead with setting the appointments, get everything done, this way if there are any waiver issues they can be cleared up early.

Waivers can take time, a couple years ago before they started sending out the Dodmerb early there were cadets that did not clear waivers until they were half way through their first semester at school. getting the Dodmerb out early was a great way to make sure cadets are cleared before school starts. It seemed that Dodmerb was sent to applicants that Cadet Command deemed competitive but remember there are more competitive applicants then there are scholarships.

It looks like Clarkson has posted that the offers are starting to make it into the system. Everyone should be finding out soon and status pages will soon be changing. I'm sure the board will light up as soon as the offers start coming in.

Good luck everyone.

Thank you very much for the input. I figured that's how it was, I tried not to get my hopes up when DoDMERB was mailed to me. Nothing will be set in stone until I (hopefully) receive that letter from CC. I was passed up the first board in October, and put on the OML. My contact over at the ROTC office in Kentucky said that I would not be reboarded, but that I would be "considered at the end of the process after all the scholarships had been awarded" and if "a candidate denied a scholarship or could not accept" that would be the only chance for me to receive an offer. Which was very fishy, because that was not what I thought an OML was. So we called over to TAMU MS department and they were shocked and frustrated with the statement the contact had given me. They personally called over to CC and returned to me saying I would not be reboarded because I was boarded the first board, but that my application would still be considered at the next boards, instead of having to wait until the end of the process to be considered. Does this make sense? I've almost confused myself! The receiving of the DoDMERB packet was just kind of a notification for myself that they were moving on with the process with my application, and that I wasn't at a standstill, like I had been told I would be.

That all made great sense, very well put.

I would have been a bit shocked with that response from CC as well. Sounds like the folks at TAMU have it all squared away.

You might want to check your status page, it looks like offers are beginning to be posted, Good Luck
