Candidates for Class of 2016

I thought I would start a thread for all of us still biting our lips in anticipation of an answer. Congrats to all those who have already received their appointments !

I started this process late, not having known anything about the Coast Guard or the Academy just a friend of the family who encouraged me to look into it and an invitation to visit the CGA. Being an outdoor person and service oriented, I had no idea that there was a place for my interests in a service academy. Of course now that I have watched almost every Coast Guard video on YouTube, I really hope to get in. (hence the biting of lip).

So all of you still in the same "boat". Here is a thread where we can chat while we wait and cheer each other on, whether we make it or not.

And just to get a survey going, what state are you from and what major are you interested if appointed?

I got an appointment a while ago. Good luck guys(and girls)!

Congrats to CChung! By today or the next couple of days all of you EA's should know your answer. As an RA... well I guess I just have to sit back and wait until April. But all is calm on this front now that everything has been handed in (and accounted for I hope). Its time to say "let go and let God".

Received letter today that I got put on the waiting list. Anyone know what my odds are to getting an appointment.

2014 My Daughter was wait listed and did not get accepted. 2015 She was wait listed and excepted the 2nd week of May. Good Luck have a soild plan B.

What was different her second time that got her in?

I got wait listed in November and received an appointment yesterday! Keep your hopes up, being wait listed means they believe you have what it takes, space permitting.

The "wait list" this year is something new. There really is nothing previous to compare it to, making the "odds" kind of difficult to set.

In previous years, all EA candidates who were not appointed were placed in a "deferred" status, a "pseudo" wait list if you will, where only about 4% actually received an appointment.

This year under EA, candidates for the first time received rejection letters, allowing them to move on to Plan B without a long waiting process that ultimately (for most of them) would not result in an appointment anyway.

The "wait list" this year is different - much smaller, thereby a much better chance of an appointment compared to a deferred EA candidate from last year.

Congrats! I'm hoping and praying for an appointment! I don't want to move on to plan B!
