My one problem with Norwich

Memories are long up here- you can't expect any true Yankee to cheer for anything with New York in it's name. It is the New England Patriots after all and Vermont was created as a breakaway from the "Empty State" (Remember Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys?).
I was on the Norwich Campus yesterday on my way south from Montreal- was reminded again- Pretty place but Northfield is truly a small town!

Go Pats!

I must say I have a great deal of respect for the Patriots team. I really like their coach especially when he was our DC, (Thanks for the great defensive teams and Super Bowls). I have real admiration for Mr. Kraft, not just for running a top notch organization and being a true leader, but for the great person he is and being a great example to our children.

Giants Injury Update

Ann Mara will not be challenging Terry Bradshaw to a fistfight, at least not before Super Bowl XLVI.

The grand matriarch and wife of the late Wellington Mara of the New York Giants, who became an Internet sensation for confronting the Fox broadcaster during the Giants' victory ceremony Sunday night, broke her shoulder in a fall after returning from San Francisco.

"It is true," her son, John, wrote in an email. "She went right to church after we arrived home Monday am and fell on the way back from communion. Broke her shoulder. She is 'probable' for SB."

I think that the super bowl is the least of Norwich's worries. Giants 17 Pats 10

Go Norwich and Go Patriots!

Great thread - Go Patriots!!

Fuji- welcome back to the Forum. The rumor was that you had gotten lost on your way to an Alumni reunion in Northfield and strayed over the border into Quebec where you were being held incommunicado until you learned French!

Patriots by 7!

Whenever I "stray" onto St Catherine Street - I find I lose lots of time!!

Fuji, just to be clear, I did NOT start this rumor!

I, too, was delighted to see you pop up on here.

Sorry- Connecticut doesn't really count as New England. I mean- from Hartford west they root for the Yankee's- how non-New England can you be? They might as well just get New York License plates!! And back when you were living there- the quarterback was YA Tittle for heaven's sake. It's time to let it go and be on the side of the good guys!

It should be a good game- Sticking with my prediction: Pats by 7

More History
In 1913 when they formed that NY Yankee Team., some events that had occurred fifty years before had made everyone in the North a "Yankee." Five years later in France even those from the South considered themselves Yanks. It will be a great game next week, cant wait. All respect for both teams.

Been waiting for this--you were right about the AFC championship, Bruno, so here's hoping your crystal ball is still in good working order . . . (and that a certain "high ankle sprain" is amenable to treatment, of course!)

Yep, YA Tittle, Pat Summerall, Frank Gifford, Joe Morrison, Del Shofner, Alex Webster, Rosey Grier, Sam Huff, the recently-late Andy Robustelli, and a state line 10 miles away where the drinking age was 18. :shake: Those were the days, my friend, those were the days.

I agree, it should be a great game - Brady vs. Manning - and I can't lose either way.

Jeez, you guys are really *old*! Of course, I was in college when OJ Simpson and USC beat the tar out of my alma mater in what was then the PAC 8.

Naah- I'm not that old- but BTexino- he is practically Methuselah:wink:
The first college Football game I went to was in the LA Coliseum to see USC with OJ play Cal in 1967 - then same year I went over the hills to the RoseBowl with my Dad to see them beat Indiana- good memories:thumb: USC won the national championship that year and OJ was a running machine.

Ah for the good old days when the Juice was a good guy. BTW Methuselah had a great life of 969 years. I am not going make a tenth of that. So BTexino is doing really well:thumb:

You just know BTexino is doing really well if he has an offspring who’s a Third at VMI. That alone keeps him young. Well, that and all the driving on I-70 and I-64 to Lexington. You see, he has found the Fountain of Youth in the form of Peach Nehi at a certain convenience store in Beckley, WV.

Speaking of the “PAC 8”, I did my Army ROTC instructor duty at UCLA and learned to heartily dislike those “cardinal and gold” folks from across town. The “Juice” was long gone by that time, but I got to watch another Trojan named Marcus somebody-or-other. He was “running machine” #2.

Go Bruins, and Giants by 3!

Well Bruce- let's make it personal- say a beer and a sandwich at McAdoo's in Lexington in May at graduation? I look forward to a free cold one while I recount great Patriot moments from the game!:thumb:

You're on! And I'll tell you what - - I may be a football Giants fan, but since that'll be springtime and the "Boys of Summer" will be playing, I'll even wear my Boston Red Sox cap to McAdoo's. (I'll leave my KC Royals hat at home.)
