Just wondering what goes on after the DoDMERB physical that you take for USMA or ROTC. How long does it take to get online, what goes on, what do you do when your status changes into whether you're A'OK or need a waiver? Enlighten me, please.

Just offered an AROTC scholarship to Texas A&M University, and my eye, audio, and medical exams were all Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Curious to know if I'm medically qualified or what!

It will take up to a couple weeks to get the results, maybe longer depending on the backlog.

You can start by checking your Dodmerb account, it will show up there first, it will either say "Qualified" or it will state "Disqualified pending Waiver", it may also say they need further remedial information. You will then receive a letter outlining what they need if you are not listed Qualified on the first go around.

Good luck.

PS If there was anything that you were concerned about before the physical get all that information together while you wait so you can send it in as soon as they require it. Above all accept the scholarship within the deadline, do not wait until Dodmerb is all cleared up.

So I can still receive a scholarship even if my DoDMERB says I need a waiver for anything, as long as I get the waiver? CC wont take away the scholarship if it shows up I need a waiver?

No, they won't take the scholarship away, waivers happen all the time, just be ready to send whatever they ask, don't be discouraged, the waiver process can take a long time, the wait can be frustrating.

The biggest problem with the waiver process is that the wait time can easily run past the deadline to accept admission to the school that the scholarship was offered. There were cases last year where a cadet started school and the waiver did not come through until part way through the first semester. This is why you need to have the information in early, You should be fine since you received your offer on the Jan. Board, those that receive an offer on the March board have less time to get Dodmerb issues in order.

Just be proactive if you anticipate any issues. My son had an Avulsion Fracture to his Hip at the end of his sophomore year, we figured that it would be an issue for Dodmerb so before the physical we saw the doctor again, got together all his records and had them write a letter to dodmerb which we kept in a file if needed. As it turned out he was found Qualified on the first physical so it wasn't needed, the point is we were ready if it had been needed.
