I have a couple of years left before I can sign up for SLS. I want to go to SLS, and get a first hand experience of what life is like at West Point. I am a freshman, and was wondering if there are anyone on this forum who have been to SLS, or have any tips for me. Should I be on varsity sports by then, and a captain? Should I be a leader of multiple clubs by then?

I was told by a WP Admissions Representative that I should apply to WP around the end of my first semester of junior year. I was wondering if it is okay to become leader of more clubs after I apply. Say I wasn't a varsity captain, and I was leader of one club. Will WP know if I become a captain, and a leader of more clubs during my senior year? Or will they only the information about me based on the application I sent during junior year?

Does WP accept students from EVERY state?

If I don't get into WP, and go to a different college, can I transfer to WP during my college years?

If looked at the USMA website and/or searched through these forums for probably ten minutes at most, you would have found all of your answers. To be able to attend one of the service academies, you must be independent; you cannot have everything given to you. You know these forums and here is the link for the USMA Admissions page (which I have already given to you once before). http://admissions.usma.edu/

Next time before asking a question, think to yourself, "Would this question possibly be answered in the forums or on the USMA website?"

I am sorry if I seem too dependent. I'm new to this forum, and I thought since it's a forum, I was allowed to ask anything, and people would respond.

This is a great forum.... It is a place to ask questions and get help or support. Look on the website for when the portal/application opens up. Also get fAmiliar with your congressional applications and start getting your letters of references started. Also DO the ROTC applications! Good luck!

Sorry dude, it's my bad. I shouldn't have lashed out at you like I did; I was just frustrated because I've told you where to go before but you didn't listen. Just remember, the service academies are looking for young men and women who don't wait and sit around for information to come; they're looking for young men and women who take the initiative and perform well. It's awesome that you're already planning when you're a freshman (and good job with no unnecessary "likes" this time:thumb:) but just remember chances are the information that you are looking for is probably somewhere here or on the website.

crazyboy,

What we mean it that since so many questions have already been answered, it is to your advantage to search before asking because you might find detailed answers to whatever you are searching for. But of course you are free to ask away!

@crazyboy: For SLS, your academics trump all else in terms of getting you "on the radar" -- you want high grades in competitive classes, high class rank and high PSATs. Beyond that, paritcipation in sports (varsity nice; extra credit for captaincy) and all the usual EC stuff kicks in. 'Nuff said since, as others have stated above, the gory details are posted elsewhere here, and posted by folks much more knowledgabe than me.

Good luck..
