Hi, I have applied for the NROTC scholarship and was wondering if it helps to contact the specific ROTC detachments your interested in joining? Also if so, how would you go about contacting them?

Eg. Through an email explaining how you would love to be a part of their program

I am just wondering if there is anything more I can do to increase my chances of getting a scholarship. My package is complete and my interview is done, I am just waiting.

Assuming you're entering college in the fall it's kind of late in the game to be doing that. Also, it's not clear that doing so will help in getting a scholarship. However, I feel it's always good to contact the detachemnt. I would recommend a phone contact to arrange some time to meet WHILE YOUR VISITING THE COLLEGE. Have questions ready about the detachment. Just calling to say "Hi" is of no use to anyone. Assuming NROTC as a College Programmer in one of your backup plans you'll want to familiarize yourself with each unit regardless of the scholarship. You're going to "live" at this place and spend a lot of time with the unit so you want to feel comfortable with it. Find out whatever you need to know to determine if its the right place for you. Of course everything else about the school is a factor as well. I suppose id time does not allow a phone conversation would have to do. At least that way they can tie a face or voice to a name.

Good Luck!

It is ALWAYS a good idea to attempt to personalize an impersonal process, as no matter how much we systematize processes, we're all human and not machines.

However, as pointed out above, it is very late in the process. Call and also email the Freshman Advisor at the NROTC Battalions you've listed on your App, but at this point it may serve more to give you information about which Units still have openings, and which do not, so that you can adjust your five listed schools accordingly.

That's a good question to ask, along with what is the process for enrolling as a College Programmer assuming no scholarship is forthcoming (if OP wants to do that).
