Here it is, finally. The President's proposed budget for FY2013.

I don't see any major hits to either ROTC or the Service Academies from FY2012 to FY2013 with the exception of Marine Corps ROTC (see pages 1 & 2). Marine Corps will sharply decrease from 457 to 260 slots (a 43% decrease), with the other branches remaining largely unchanged. That said, this will likely be an interesting budget year and politics are in play here (actually, we have been operating without a budget for three years).

On page 2, note that the number of Health Profession scholarships jumped last year from 432 to 522, but Navy is going down from 317 to 267 (roughly down 16% in that branch).

Discuss.

It looks to me like the ROTC numbers are for officers commissioned, not scholarships awarded. In that case, it gives us insight into scholarships accepted in '07-'09 but I didn't see anything about anticipated numbers of scholarships to be awarded in the next couple of years. I'd love to see those numbers.

Here are some numbers today for the Class of 2017 (which can change): http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-...ps-involuntarily-under-budget-reductions.html
